somehow i feel like the mx4 pro is the same or even a better phone than this, seeing that the 2 have almost the same specs (camera resolution, build, fingerprint scanner, screen size). while the mx4 pro is now much much cheaper now than the mx5 will ever be at launch.

Anonymous, 30 Jun 2015Well, no. If you read my post you'd see that since Mediatek... moreThe trotling is mean to save battery, will mx5 be on high speed all the time, good for gamers, but juices drain fast. Is there a thing call "burst Mood"? like over drive in cars...

Anonymous, 30 Jun 2015Well, no. If you read my post you'd see that since Mediatek... moreIf you think for a second that the x10 will run 8 cores at 2.2ghz constantly then your deluded! it will throttle like all the rest, even the Exynos 7420 and Apple's A8 are not beyond such needs, it may take them slightly longer to get there, but they will eventually

on paper the x10 is a midrange SOC, it uses midrange components, does it use them well...yes and will it be marketed as flagship grade...yes, but if Qualcomm were to produce a chip ran all of it's A53 cores at the same speed and use GPU several steps below the 430 in terms of performance would anyone regard it as high end.....no.

Ale, 30 Jun 2015Yes the snapdragon do throttle, and this alone is why the x... moreWell, no. If you read my post you'd see that since Mediateks don't throttle they're not mid rangers. It's not enough to have a powerful chip, what's more important is to give out said performance. If your snapdragon always runs at low/lower clock rate then it is not a high end chip.

Helio X10 is a mid to high end chip on paper (2.2ghz on all 8 cores is insane, even A53s run fast at those clockrates). SD810 is high end that runs like a mid range (thus slower than Helio).

Snapdragon 615 is mid range but due to throttling it sometimes performs like a low end.

So 2015's octacore CPUs are like this.

                      Exynos 7420 >> Helio X10 > SD810 > MT6752 > Snapdragon 615 = MT6753

If the 810 was peforming the way it was designed to do then its numbers would be closer (though not equal to) the Exynos 7420 and that would put it firmly beyond reach of the x10. On paper the x10 is a midrange SOC, utilizing lower end A53 cores and a rather pedestrian GPU. That puts it firmly in the 615 bracket. Now is it a rather good midranger, well so far the answer would seem to be yes.

Snapdragon 615 also throttles and it is actually losing pretty handily by mediatek 6753 which is only 1.3ghz. Helio x10 is 2.2ghz and never throttles it's almost twice the power of SD 615, not even close to comparable.

Instead of benchmarks or paper specs read "sustained performance". There all Qualcomms lose even on small loads.

The gpu of course is another story, but unless one's gaming (new) 3d games helio's gpu is more than enough.
