Anonymous, 10 Jul 2015why?? why Microsoft have new idea? only launch 6 model one ... moreWhy is 6 models not enough for you??? They need 6 because they expect 5 of them will be market failures.
So I wish that they make 1 or 2 well thought out models. THAT will prove that they are capable of being excellent phone makers, and that they KNOW the market.

Windows os is worst os ever made for smartphone, it is based on x86 architecture ,which is typically for desktop, even laptop with windows is nightmare, i do not want burn my brain by choosing windows, we used to be nokia fan and my god i will never windows phone.
Nokia could have been survived if they had chosen android. Superiority complex kills the good of you.

windows varient and flagship is the main reason for failure of nokia and microsoft.
if they chose android or cyanogen they would be on top of the smartphone lists

I really hope it isn't true.
Sure samsung is producing too many models. But you cant do too few either. Apple is a mystery, you shouldnt be able to be any way near that successfull with so few models.

1-2 flagships per year preferebly 2, works.
But both apple and samsung have 2 different screen sizes.
More optimal perhaps to keep sales up for the whole year is to release 2 devices with different screen sizes 2 times per year, making a total of 4.

what they call business devices, i dont know. if it is a qwerty series, well 1-2 of those per year is fine, many business users would get the flagship anyhow.

but then you need some kind of mid segment, where you have devices that ore ok priced, and comes with decent specs. A lot of people that cant afford flagships end up buying these devices. They also tend to be more value for money, cause the highest end components used in flagships arent the best value for money, and in a flgship you have many of those components, meaning that the end product is far from the best value for money, even if they would have the same profit margins.
1-2 of those per year might be enough. but in this category, people cant show off their phones, as it isnt a flagship, so there is room for different models, with different screen sizes, and other differenting features.

then we have budget devices where lumia has a good track record. Here however the android competition is closing in. There are now cheap enough processors that run android fine.
Sure what MS calls value line, might not be the budget line, but the above midranger line. and they might get out of budget line, in order to improve their brand status.
But i think that, that would be wrong. They need to get windows mobile 10 in to as many hands as possible. Since they are almost the only ones that globally sells windows mobiles they need to be the ones to deliver the budget segment as well.
1-2 devices here sounds fine. unlike the midrange devices, every cent counts, so there isnt much room for diffrentiation, however they have that today with two different screen sizes in the 5xx series, and that is nice, but i would understand if they cant keep that up.

Then there is the ultra budget segment. This segment isnt fitting for a player like MS, but yet again they are pretty much the only ones on the global market that does windows mobiles, so they need to be the ones that makes these as well. sure they havent really in the past, the 4xx are a bit too expensive. ultra budget devices should come with pricetags that are in the feature phone realm.
1 device per year would probably work fine.

I strongly believe that opting in for windows OS was the biggest downfall for nokia. if only they chose android. they might've done better. But Nokia is coming back, bolder and may be better. Microsoft should be ready for that. Big blow! Bang!

AnonD-75819, 10 Jul 2015You are right....808 with symbian >>>>>1020 ... moreNokia would have even surpassed Android if Symbian could have been "programmed" for touch screen

Nokia would not have been sold.
Ios Android, and my guess Samsung / LG / HTC making phones for both Android and Symbian.

2016 will show the world what Nokia can bring to Android

Amonynous, 09 Jul 2015Why would the release of maximum 6 new phones/year affect y... moreThey seem to be copying Apple with two releases per year a major update, and like the "S" that follows a minor tweak

Two releases per year for the 3 price ranges / Specs
                      High medium and low.

Whilst Apple devotion appears unlimited, it does nit make it the correct marketing model to mimic

First high end are Apple iPhones and eirh no camera resolution each picture takes up 3Mb of non expandable memory, in addition no battery pull to correct freezing

Microsoft would have never attain the Lumia sales without Nokia, that Microsoft represents almost all Lumia sales and with only ONE major phone manufacturer providing only ONE model well,

I read that a Lumia Model even outsold Apple in Asia (Pakistan?) per Gsmarena report.

The mid range have both microSD and removable battery but Imo won't attract those whose Android phones already surpass Windows as this then becomes a DOWNGRADE.

                      Nokia made Windows O/S attractive
Windows will have a problem if it sticks to Apple, as like Aoole upgrades are minimal, my upgraded model offered a 2Mp increase in Camera and that was it!

The biggest flaw is the App market which Microsoft shamefully ignores the quality in order to brag high numbers

The apps are never upgraded some EG ANT TU TU not one update since launch in APRIL 2012.

APP after App added that don't work with no instuction and no photo.

Finally on Apps many duplicates not a different App same App which can simply be a shortcut, Gmail is Gmail shortcut offered by many developers as an app

All you have to do to get the same is to pin the bookmark to the homepage!

There are good points in Android and Microsoft is currently going through Voting system in Windows 10

Many things are missing from Windows but have been voted fir in very high numbers, Camera resolution, web navigation (as there is a backward, but no forward) & and no at present clipboard.

All you have to do us look at Windows OS on a laptop to see what Microsoft can offer.

Having COMPLAINED as much each upgrade that Microsoft releases is a vast improvement over the previous version.

Many like me don't think Microsoft would be where it us today without NOKIA, I doubt that I would have even jumped to Microsoft even with the same specs on offer as there was nothing to lure us away.

Windows before Nokia was where in overall operating system
Failure only if Microsoft were expecting Apple size profits

Is it true they'll only be making smartphones for the next two years since their OS never took flight as they hope as compared to the two giants? Plus they said buying Nokia is a failure? Good thing 2016 is nearing for Nokia...

its not really thriling, but as a unique company, its hard for them go go over 10 devices a year..... they just got to make the O.S, rentable so they can expand it... go MS
