Although Android is open source, all the other over the top IP royalties have to be borne by the manufacturers, for example, for proper MicroSD support, manufacturer's use a Microsoft-patented tech by paying royalties to MS. Similarly, many pay such royalties to Siemens, Motorola and Samsung(for 4G). This is why, the cast of handset can never be close to the actual hardware cost

It's all the cost of the hardware which is more or less the same for all high end phones. (150-200$ I think)

Android One Poor OS. It means your 600$ Android flagship is overpriced and should be less than 100$. No android phone can cost above 100$.

new company = less resources. Either you can't buy one locally or poor customer service or poor rom support. Lava is known to be low-mid brand, won't buy it unless many have reviewed it with positive feedback.

Lava is new name hearing first time.. More brand mobile phone maker join manufactering mobile phone. I think user has more option to buy phone.
