OMG 2009 lol.. At that time my phone was the LG Viewty KU990. I had "upgraded" from the Motorola Razr. I bought this phone from a guy from the UK, so a 5MP Camera phone was unheard of in the US at that time. I remember a lot of people had the US version of these typical LG handsets like the Chocolate. Meanwhile I recorded a LOT of fun moments with my 5MP camera that recorded at 640x480 something like that it was very HQ video. However the 3G bands were built for the UK not for the US so it did not pick up 3G with T-Mobile. At that time I was considering getting an iPhone like most people or a Blackberry, but wasnt sure and wasnt confident about leaving behind the features of the LG Viewty. Screen was VERY small only 3-inch screen vs bigger Blackberry and iPhone screens

      The answer is: more over the top services, like natural processing language (offline) services, AI, ever increasing gaming graphics and physics...

      Besides, remember you can never have enough power efficiency.

      Though, I hardly think that processor power is going to continue increasing in a linear basis. The trend is to reach a level of equality to notebooks and desktops.From there on they should start building processor for specifics (e.g. dedicated voice recognition chipset).

        In 20 years Smartphones will be 1000 times more powerful. I don't know why anyone would need 1000 times the power of today mobiles!

            AnonD-411799, 02 Aug 2015anybody had N97? wow the device was awesome but irritative ... moreI had it. It took about 6 months and 3 firmware updates before it became usable. Sold an iPhone 3gs to get it. 32gb + SD card still impressive in 2015.
            Had the n900 after which was a real powerhouse.

                The 9210i Communicator had a 4.5" color screen back then. Large touchscreen trend started with the legendary HTC HD2 at 4.3". I still remember how large the screen was in my palm(I wowed. Seriously) when first introduced. Nowadays 4.3" are considered small. After holding the Galaxy Mega 6.3" I believe there is room for some more growth with the reduction of bezels. It will probably stop growing until 8". And it's time for new display tech like VR, foldable, projection, or hologram
