But its 200 pounds more expensive than an s6 with a worse chipset that still has issues with throttling (but not quite as bad as the old 810).

1) They're expensive because they're insanely durable. And if you're going to tell me that there's been a lot of reports on faults of the Xperia Z family, there's been a hell of a lot more non-faulty phones. Their best feats are being life proof, camera, and as of recent, battery life. As a very clumsy person who owned 3 of them, and knows more or less 10 people who own them and are beyond happy with them, and about half of them are as clumsy as I am, their price is VERY well justified.
2) 4k is great on a TV, and quite a nice feat. But on a phone? It's beyond useless. HD in my opinion is the best, even Full-HD is fine, but anything beyond that, including 2k (precisely QHD), is just plain stupid because there is no real feat, other than when using Google Cardboard, which isn't something your eyes would appreciate you for.
Also, I'm very sure that for the entire Z line, the screen is pretty much the most power-hungry component, and if you'd just google it, you'd see that the Z3 and Z3 compact's power consumption of the screen is pretty much multiple times larger than of any other app/component.
The reason behind the 4k phone I believe is to soothe the people's e-peens.
3) They still are waterproof, they just don't wish to advertise using them in the pool/sea (and those ads caused a huge panic attack in the waterproofing department) because there have been many many complaints from people that their phone got ruined because they abused the up to 1.5m and 30 minutes underwater in clear water limit.

Sense UI looks so outdated and doesn't even employ the new material design well. HTC's skeumorphic design is beginning to get really ugly and boring. Also HTC absolute sucks jack shit at specs. Camera and battery on them are crap. Why else would my brother dump his M8 for a Z3? More like ew HTC UI compared to Xperia UI. Xperia UI is getting really simplistic, clean and beautiful now and its employing a more minimalistic approach to material design. If you wanna see the new Xperia UI launched in 5.1.1, I would be happy to email you some screenshots. The Z3's UI is certainly not like the Z2 and older Xperia devices.

HA FUNNY. I bought the Xperia Z, Z1, Z2, and Z3 all on launch date and I've never had any issues with them. Waterproofing worked fine on all of them I've been buying Sony products for 30 years and not a single one has failed me. My Trinitron from 1985 still works perfectly today and my Vaio from 2002 is still working just fine. Its called taking good care of your products. If you want me to list how many Sony products I've bought in the last 30 years, your entire screen would be full and none of those products have malfunctioned or stopped working yet and none of them have sucked at all. They were all highest end models of their tiers. Now the Z5 Premium will be my choice. 4K GALORE!

This phone has a better camera than both and has so much more features available that saves you money like expandable storage and water proof. I hear it comes bundled with some incredible headphones that are over £100 as well when you buy from some retailers. In terms of value for money it is cheaper than both Samsung and Apple. I agree it's high when comparing to Motorola, Nexus, Lg and so many Chinese manufacturers but you should also realise there's so much more it has to offer as well. I think only the Lg g4 is better value for money currently and that still doesn't come withe the top notch Mdr headphones Sony has included that are noise cancelling etc.
