Sony is giving its mobile division a year to turn profitable or face a split

08 October, 2015
Company CEO Kazuo Hirai announced the deadline in a recent interview, but failure to profit doesn't necessarily mean the end of Sony Mobile.

Suggestions to Help Sony:
1. Make their own SoC - Sony should make their SoC , If Samsung did it then they should be able to. For Christ Sake , Sony makes TVs , They make Gaming Consoles , They make Cameras , They used to make computers also they made History , They made many things First , before anyone else. They should make an SoC of their Own , So that they wouldn't only rely on Mediatek and Qualcomm , Especially if they keep making Flagship phones every 6 Months , since Qualcomm only makes Flagship SoCs once a year , So that people won't complain having 2 Sony Flagship Phones with the Same SoC.

2.Sony should develop their Cameras properly - Sony sells Camera Sensors to other companies like Samsung , So the Cameras in their phones should be good right?
So with the release of the S7 , It turns out , You don't need to have too many Megapixels to make a good shot , If Sony developed their Camera Software and Hardware Properly , They would blow the Samsung's Cameras out of the Water , If Sony stopped adding too many Megapixels on their Phone and actually focusing on making it better (Maybe 16-18 Megapixels , So that details would still be good) It would probably be the best Phone Camera.

3.Stop releasing Flagship Phones every 6 Months - or at least keep the other one in Japan and let them deal with it , People don't necessarily change their Phones every 6 Months , Especially in developing countries , Since Sony's Flagships are expensive , It's annoying that when you buy the Flagship Phone , You'd know that in the next six months your phone isn't the Latest anymore .

4.Price your Phones competitively - Just price your Phones right and keep it that way , Unlike now , Your Phones are expensive on their first release then you keep on cutting it's price as time goes.

Vic, 08 Oct 2015Guys, please don't ask Sony to become budget oriented compa... moreYes, Sony is a premium and will stay premium to its last breath, so will Xperia, if the separation eventually happen. A new flagship every 6 months is not a good idea since it'll shorten development time and cripple production costs since you want to use the latest available chipset, especially when you're so fixated on using chipset from one company that is. However, increasing products range to match shamesung & other OEMs are not necessarily need to be through flagships. Make lots of high-midrange smartphones+tablets and a few cheap, reliable low ends (on the right track with SnapDragon615), all launched with a seriouslying huge marketing/advertising, ample after-sales support. As for flagship, just one, annually innovative family consisting a main 5"-5.5", a Compact, an Ultra, a Medium Tablet (like the 8" Z3TC, no it'll not be redundant with the full size tablet nor the Ultra), and a full size 10"/12" full size tablets. Also it'll be interesting for flagships to be introduced with a choice of one or two more OS'es each year, except Apple OS since you're rivals. Windows, Blackberry, even Symbian for God's sake. Then again, PlayStation OS/PlayStation Mobile does have a nice ring to it, a skin choice for Android perhaps? Learn from your lesson. Compacts don't need the same chipset as the bigger boys, only slightly lower. Ultras and Tablets need to prioritise in graphical battery life as it'll be used to watch videos more, and also web browsing, while Compacts will be used for calls more. Finally, Removable batteries IS an option! Yeah I know you want to keep Unibody, so use a big so-called "flap" on the side! Though on this size it'll probably more accurate to call it "hatch" and the "hole" is called "compartment" instead of "slot", while keeping the excellent build quality. As for cameras, combining OIS+LaserAutofocus+Dual/TripleToneFlash)XenonFlash while keeping high resolution/pixel size and stable imaging software updates should do it. Xperia UI is super light, and if one day you wanna preload some more software features (following other brands' flood of bloatware), yours should be user-uninstallable, as we should be able to make our choices to release less wanted software features to save weight/space, but updates for lower ends could be more equally distributed. Keep PlayStation RemotePlay on all flagships and DualShock controller compatibility on every other models, mid and low. Water&Dustproof are the Z-series trademark, so is DualGlass, don't lose it. Responding to slippery complaints, make the glass textured and even curved for better grip, while not forgetting the ever so useful lanyard eyelet.
Xperia Mobile, even if you guys decided to detach yourselves from Sony, do not falter and stay true to the Xperia Spirit!!

The price of sony is very high as compare to others. And also specification is also less as other are giving more in tht same price. So request to maintain it early as possible.

If you give them the ultimatum, two things can happen; Good ones will flee, under performer will stay, Hence, accelerating the demise.

Why wouldn't them try Windows 10 devices? This OS is already mature and really promising. As a phone manufacturer Sony is much more known than Microsoft, so there is a chance for some success here. Also, niche for premium glass and metall Windows devices is still empty. As well as good and affordable mid-ranger. Many potential customer will definitely prefer Sony over MS then choosing Windows device. In my opinion both companies could benefit from such cooperation.

Sony has always made the best smartphones on the market with their simplistic design premium looks and feel but I my opinion their main issue is regarding their advertisements. Sony's advertising is so limited that you can't find anywhere unless you try to search it. They need to try to spread their brochures, catalogs and other kinds of stuff in bulk starting from small mobile shops in small cities to middle class and then large cities altogether. They have to adopt some serious advertising techniques in order to convince the consumers to get to know more about their latest releases. Just Internet advertising is not enough. Try out some billboards, launch events in some famous landmarks and invite press. All in all Sony has done a great job so far but it's time to take some serious steps in the next family of smartphones in order to remain and earn profits in the coming years.
