2015 Snap 810s were quite disappointing. Samsung S6 Edge+ is awesome but pricy. Coming from the 801 I wanna jump to 820. Why?

Because why not??? I find it quite rude telling people they have enough and that you "don't get" why they want a new soc. As these discussions everywhere on the net shows, it is personal. If you are happy, good for you. (For the one with S6, quite a hypocrite lol)

I want an 8 inch tab with OP gpu, resolution is a bonus if the soc supports it all the way. For my phone I want a worthy upgrade and 2015 was just not it.

Xiaomi show us your power!!

Launching a flagship device with current top chipset, when the next upcoming chipset is just around the corner, is surely gonna raise some eyebrows.

"I really don't get it why the soc is that important"

Yeaaaaah, coming from someone who owns a Galaxy S6, which apart from Apple, has the latest chipset to date. Come on.

Mi 4 was announced together with the mi band. Is there any chance for a Mi band 2/watch?

SoC is much more than just CPU and GPU. There are things like ISP, DSP, modem, ....... that matter a lot too. With each advancement in SoC, these things get upgraded too most of the time. At the end of the day new SoC means more bandwidth, better connectivity, improved battery performance and so on. Obviously a person who owns Galaxy S6 won't know such things but it matters to other people like us.

AnonD-352420, 12 Oct 2015Why does everyone want the fastest chipset? As a galaxy s6 ... moreIt's not about the faster chipset. It's about moving away from the horrible MOAR CORES mindset, it's about having Apple like single core performance on a quad core setup. It's for better images through the improved ISP and slow mo videos and processing that comes with it. It's about having a phone today that is fast enough to be a top performer three years down the line so that you won't have to upgrade. You can't say that about the SD810. Most people who bought an SD810 phone is having issues and will probably buy a new phone next year.

Sure in daily life a good camera, clear display, and the speaker is important. But if it starts off on a bad foot (DS810), then it is better to wait till next year where you have more options.

The S6 is an excellent future proof phone, with a good camera, display, speaker, battery life and performance. But imagined it overheated to the point it shuts off your camera when you take pictures, your battery life is horrible, your UI stutters - why not wait and get a SD820 phone with an better display, camera, battery life and performance? It won't cost more. So seeing an SD820 phone is exciting, then we have to wait for the review to see if the rest of the components match it. You can't tell if it would have a good display or camera just by reading the specification list, but you can tell a lot about it's performance.

You can't fault people for wanting to have the pinnacle of technology at their hands. People embrace new technology, they always have.

They just have to release the MI 4C in USA ( with support for their LTE bands) that alone will steal 1/2 of the market share that Samsung and Apple has.

As a galaxy s6 owner I can say that in daily use there are many other aspects that makes a difference than the chipset. You will much more likely feel the difference between a good and a bad camera, the difference between a display you can read in the sun or not, the difference between a speaker that is loud and clear enough for navigation (if you need) and in front of all the software and how it works. The chipset does not really matter in daily use, what do you want to do with the phone? Gaming all day long? For this you could easily choose the sd810 since it has a very good GPU that is even stronger than the exynos' Mali gpu in some cases...

It's happening!! Though without the SD820 the Mi5 will lose all its appeal to me (it would be the same as the rest of 2015's phones). It was supposed to be the first phone sporting the chipset, so an October announcement with a November launch isn't impossible.
