Anonymous, 03 Feb 2016Why would anyone buy a Surface Pro and play games on it LOL. Because it is a Personal Computer not a tablet. Can you even tell the difference ? Playing games is not the point. It is what you can do on it VS what you cannot do on it. What can you do on a iPad ? What ? Everything that a decent smartphone can do ? Cut onions on it ? What ?

And as another user stated, The Surface Pro is a lot closer to a high end laptop, than it is to a tablet. What exactly can you do on a iPad ? Play 30 MB Games and surf Safari? Not to mention the fact that , as all Apple products, it is waaaay overpriced for what it offers.

For those commenting on the Surface Pro, I am a former Apple user of 20+ years who switched to the Surface Pro 4 (i7 16GB RAM 256GB SSD model). Whilst I have yet to try gaming on it (not the objective and I have a PS4 for that!), my take:
(My prev laptop was a 13" Retina MacBook Pro i5 512GB SSD 2015 model.)
          1. As above, not tried games yet, but all else I throw at it (inc all the Adobe CC apps) run without any slowdown at all.
          2. Playing back 4K video is smooth on my external Dell 27" 4K monitor.
          3. The new Microsoft dock means I can simply pick up the SP and go travel (I have a Logitech K810 Bluetooth keyboard that works brilliantly with the SP), leaving my monitor and full size keyboard at my desk. When returning to desk, reconnect the SP dock (single cable!) and all my peripherals are connected at once.
          4. I've owned most iPads and used the Pro. No comparison, Surface is like a Mac, a proper computer (with file manager - vital to organise your content!) that is also an awesome tablet, with a brilliant display and stereo speakers that also has a miniDisplay port (Thunderbolt) port, USB port - IE, it uses industry standard ports.

Only flaw is lack of full size SD card slot and a USB-C charging port, but I guess MS designed their otherwise awesome dock before USB-C was ractified. Next year?

Awesome bit of kit thanks to the kickstand and overall design.

Apple have fragmented their OSes which makes file management and cloud computing a nightmare. Try accessing some Google Drive/Docs features on an iPad, they won't work because iOS isn't powerful enough!

Its like different worlds in performance gap. You have to be nuts to actually go for the surface pro instead of buying a real powerful pc for the same or even less price.

Don't get me started with games... Surface can't run games without you having to hate yourself. Not only that, you need keyboard / mouse combo for pc x86 gaming. You try downloading the on screen buttons from Steam, and its crap gaming experience.

And surface claims to be a highly mobile device, YET IT CANNOT type conformably on your lap with its keyboard extension! NOR does it have LTE / 3G Support.

In the end.. surface is just a laptop that forgot to include a keyboard.

Windows 10 does not even include support for its Windows 10 Phones to auto hotspot the surface.. (you have to take out your phone.. and manually tether) NO such fuss with iPad or rMBP.

In the end.. it can't beat a rMBP nor can it beat iPad. Why? Because i own all 3. Surface p4 / rMBP / iPad. The one collecting dust is surface...

That's good for detachables like the Surface Pro since the entire tablet industry as a whole is going down the toilet, along with Apple's only other source of revenue besides the iPhone. And at least you get a real OS with Surface, the iPad Pro is just another useless tablet.

Keep in mind that the Surface device has the same functionality as a regular high end PC. Even with all its software problems ( which are fixed with updates ) it is still 10 times more useful . The only reason why Apple is selling more products is because of the ''Sheep factor'' and amazing marketing.
