Mobile phones are getting boring now. This phone would be little faster than phones from 2014 but it does not bring anything on table worth spending a grand for. I think its best to buy 2 years old phone like S5, HTC m8 etc for 1/3 price. Most Graphic intensive games are getting old and top games on play store should run fine on 2yr old flagships. (Even Graphics intensive games run fine but difference is noticeable on new devices). For average users difference is even less impressive. Maybe people who use emulators will get the difference worth spending a grand for new SoC.

The OS is, indeed, multithreaded, but most apps running in that OS uses one core, or two at best, except browser and demanding games. So, both single core and multicore performance matters in Android.

If you knew anything about phone cpu you would have realised it when you saw the comparatively low multicore score.
No confirmation on gpu just yet but most likely the mali-t880 will be better. Mali gpus have better support so they would be better even if benchmarks were lower anyway, but even that looks like mali would be better.

BTW single core performance doesn't matter to android. Android is heavily multoithreaded as Anandtech showed, so this one indeed barely is an upgrade...

This one I would consider buying. Superior support from 3rd-party ROM such as CM or AOSP builds, which translates into timely security updates.
I didn't buy the S6 Edge specifically because of the Exynos (historical) lack of support.
(Sure, the S3 has many ROMs, but because of Exynos they are usually a hacky mess with stability issues lurking at every corner. Thank you, but NO thank you.)

The first month sales will help spread the word and to project how well the phone will sell for the coming months. Its is always the peak for the first month for phones. Therefore I believe Samsung is not able to cope with manufacturing their own chips currently to achieve the stock pile before the launch to get the sales target they want for the first month. Now with so many order of their chips and so many new chips they have to produce including for Apple and all the different Exynos processors, It not hard to believe they have to outsource some of their operations to Qualcomm to ease the pressure on their factories.
