Opera receives $1.2B takeover proposal; deal likely to happen

Popular Web browser company Opera has received a buyout offer from a Chinese consortium. The offer values the Norwegian company at NOK 10.5 billion ($1.2 billion), which is reportedly 53% more than its market value before the acquisition rumors broke.

Old Opera with Presto engine was light years ahead of the rest, this now is just a dumbed down reskinned Chrome. Pointless. Android version however is very good. I'm just not sure about the Chinese part. It's still China in the end and the way how Opera does data compression by routing all data through their proxy if you use Opera Turbo, I frankly trust Norwegian devs more than Chinese in that regard...
