17 March, 2016
The update is on its way over-the-air to some handsets that have been on Windows Phone 8.1 so far.

Can't still choose default video player of choice. Major problem is that People application does not show facebook updates anymore. We need to launch Facebook application seperately.

I had build 10586.107 insider version. Battery standby was not bad but with usage, battery was draining really fast. I heard proper win 10 build is just an upgrade of 10586.107. Just rolled back to 8.1 thinking of getting proper win 10. How was the battery performance of win10 when using the phone? Is it worth to upgrade or should i stick with 8.1? I want more battery life

Anonymous, 21 Mar 2016Microsoft is unbelievably reckless with this trashy so-call... morelol...welcome to the team mate. "Broken WIN10 1520 users" club... I struggled a lot with backing up my data to one drive with my 18Mbps wifi. it started and started and lol...nothing happened. I manually backed up my photo gallery. But it did wipe some of my phone data... While you wait for a next possible update to fix the bugs, there will be a Windows 11 or Windows 10.5 next year. Microsoft just care for the phones they have launched. I highly doubt if any of these issues we have will be addressed in near future.

Carol, 21 Mar 2016Well, you probably don't understand exactly how maps work. ... moreI do know how the market works. The spokesperson from HERE officially commented that the Windows 10 update made it impossible to support their HERE app in the new OS. They don't want to start the patch work from square one and it is a lot of work and they want to concentrate on android platforms and possibly iOS. But I don't buy that news..It is just the matter of the ownership with which Microsoft commented, from June 2016 they won't support the HERE Maps in Windows 10. But whoever using HERE maps on Windows 10 can still use the app. So it basically has got nothing to do with support. if it is working well now, it sure can work in future as well with the 10. Even if the Microsoft acquired the HERE data, it is no more HERE and it is known as Microsoft Maps. You see, what they are going for?? it is just a cold war. Same with the Lumia camera which has been upgraded to Microsoft camera. The app just suks. The Rich dynamic capture is crap in the windows 10. I don't even understand what it does in this win 10 mobile. The finishing touches goes for about 2-3 minutes and then nothing. The second update which the Microsoft app launched has still not much difference in terms of the battery backup. Standby is good. I tested. But when you are own an app, it does draw considerable amount of battery which was not a problem when I was with Win 8.1. Now about the settling time you mentioned for WIN 10. lol seriously?? I can believe some new update could make the performance better, but not the OS itself. Then the oversampled pics that you are talking about. Trust me, I tested them. The pictures are just crap. There is a lot of noise. I did zoom the pics to see the details. The autofocus is poor as well. As I commented on my previous post, Many users would praise the new Win 10 for its UI, app store and other features. But for me it is a huge disappointment, since the Microsoft camera in my 1520 with this update just broke the whole thing. Images are really dark, Rich dynamic capture is not functional, Turtle slow motion captures hardly any light making the videos really dark even in day light. 4k video mode is heating up my phone. I used to enjoy what 20MP photos with good DR with my 1520 when I was with 8.1. I have rolled back now to 8.1 but facing some memory issues and display freeze now. My gf with android phone is having good laugh at me now..(sigh)...

I have updated my L540 to Windows 10 in the first hour of it's release. The installation took about an hour to complete, and I found the new windows 10 mobile on my device. The UI if the OS is far better than W8.1, initially, this OS was a battery eater, but very soon, a next update was released which fixed this problem. :)
After going through my phone since three day, I came to the conclusion that W10Mobile is an excellent job by Microsoft. From action centre to the new store, this version is the best ever and can easily fight with android and iOS devices. Now, i should say that Android is still leading only because if google apps and play. This thing is only missing in Windows 10 Mobile. Rest, everything is superb. I should say, Great Job Done, Microsoft!!! The only thing you are lagging now is the presence of official apps like that of google, some most popular games like Clash of Clan and Sime more other official apps.
At the end, i will suggest reader to ho for Windows 10 Mobile. Its really the beat windows ever (and soon to be best mobile OS).
For Microsoft, you did a very good task guys, the only thing left is Apps, just do that. :)

YouTube shows how to recover from this but it is a lengthy and complicated process for geeks and it will erase all your apps, media, every thing

I've never ever suffered any thing like this nightmare with my iPhones, galaxies notes, Experia Z Ultra and BB10 devices

Jamal, 21 Mar 2016What about lumia 920 device?? Will it get windows 10 update... moreSadly, no. Lumia 1020, 925, and ,920 won't receive official updates. I will strongly recommend you to stay on 8.1. Ms will not update the firmware's and their are some really annoying performance issues. After being insider for a long time I returned my 1020 to 8.1 but, I own an windows 10 device so I am ok with that... Yeah, I know sounds not that good but an upgrade would be the best choice to experience windows 10. Or buy an 640
. I've heard they work quite good on the 10. I think it all hast to do with quad core and gpu. That are missing and older in our devices.

Anonymous, 21 Mar 2016Forgot to mention, there is no Lumia recovery available now... moreWell, you probably don't understand exactly how maps work. Yes, maps data are downloaded from and updated by here. Their are a lot of software's though, that can use this data in their own way. Example audi and vw and the others that bought HERE will for sure not use Here maps program, the one in phones, cause well, is just a software that uses the data made specially for smartphones by Nokia. MS is not taking credit, they kind of pay for it:). Yes, I also don't like the maps app, here app being more consistent and accurate, but at some point maps app will catch up, is not as bad as it was a year ago. As for the new windows 10. I was insider for half an year. Believe me, when I first installed it, hell got loose. Phone was weird and unstable for at least 1 week. But while rolling back and forth I've noticed that windows 10 just needs time to settle down and that is also why your battery drains. At some point, the battery will stop draining. But yes, 10 still has some problems with it. Sometimes the battery holds it's charge like crazy and sometimes drains faster, not like crazy but faster. Camera? Well, here is something weird about camera and gallery. I was insider on 1020 and I still had Lumia camera. Ms camera being unable to take oversampled pics anymore. Anyway, why I said weird, well in gallery all pic looked like crapp but in reality they were,t that bad. I never compared them to windows 8 ones in the same time( how could I?) but I see no quality loss over the screen of my PC as I have seen inside the phone itself. So, I don't know what's that all about. Anyway, you can roll back or just reset(format) the device, let it couple of hours to settle. Rich capture should start working.
