Anonymous, 19 Mar 2016professor of what? Liberal arts?I am an English and ICT professor kid.

And if in case you're not aware, lemme tell you that there are many great apps out there that allow professionals like me to do our job and earn a decent living out of this noble profession using this device. Unless you are completely aware of that, I suggest you stop calling my tool for my job as a toy.

          AnonD-126854, 20 Mar 2016Samsung Galaxy Tab S(windows) is the THING!!! Period!What thing?

Less ppi than the original tab S (both habe amoled). Apps not well optimized for touch, probably worse battery life, far heavier thus tiring for extended use...

Also , as a laptop it's bad too. The Amoled would develop burn in as desktop environments are static. The processor is weak, little ram too compared to real laptops.

No matter how you take it it's a giant step back from where Samsung was 2 years ago.

Hell my 3 year old note tab is probably better (better ppi, better battery, pen support, wealth of touch optimized apps, running Linux on top as per this xda guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-10-2014/general/how-to-install-gnu-linux-samsung-galaxy-t3239809

So there is nothing good about Tab S pro. This fad should die, it takes tablets centuries back, to the era of netbook almost (weak pcs, instead of awesome tablets).

The 'Pro' variant is a very nice tablet experience, and if brought 'down-in-size' to the 10" market, better still!
More pencil supported tablets (sold)will lead to vastly more pencil optimised software experiences being released, or updated..

The A9X will offer phenomenal punch for the lesser resolution screen, giving Apple a real graphics powerhouse and a stronger gaming platform.
Pencil support makes these things exceptional value, potentially saving the cost of a graphics tablet for the desktop. (OS X)

The screen itself, if the same as the 12"Pro, has some expensive tech that allows greater battery life by being able to hold screen refreshes for longer, allowing a 15 (or maybe 30?) Hz update mode (not just a software trick), that can extend battery life when viewing static screens.

Whilst I'm not huge on using the camera in tablets, Apple seem aware that users with the smaller tablets have a viable handheld part, and 4K support will allow for much better capturing of 'little Johnny and Mary's first school play. I don't get excited by this upgrade, due to the next big improvement...

The speakers are a major step forward in portable sound quality.
It is clever the way Apple reassign the sound based on orientation, but the sound is why I mention this, and even write this post... The sound improvement makes this a bargain if choosing between the 32Gb Pro or a 64Gb Air (if they are at the same price..)

The Pro really is a step up from the regular iPads. If a small sacrifice in storage space allows a person to 'get the pro'.. Do it! Whilst you can easily rotate some music and videos between desktop and tablet, the improvements the Pro offers said experience, be it games, or music,or web browsing/book reading , is substantial.

The 4Gb ram is just icing on the cake.. I always have stacks of programs 'open' and they just pop up / resume instantly. Apple will probably get one of the longest upgrade cycles for iOS out of the A9X Pros...

AnonD-510098, 18 Mar 2016And whats the improvements they have made? Oh yeah, nothing....Read article, final paragraph lists...

The new, smaller iPad Pro will come with four speakers, a brighter display that supports the Apple Pencil stylus, a Smart Connector for a new Smart Keyboard accessory, and the A9X chipset. The main camera will apparently be a 12 MP unit with 4K video recording support, and maybe even a LED flash.

9.7" iPad isn't supposed to replace a full-blown Windows 10 tablet like Surface Pro 4. But iPad has other features:

                        1. Much lighter and smaller
                        2. Much better battery life
                        3. Built-in LTE
                        4. OS and apps fully optimized for touch controls

If you don't need desktop functionality and have all applications you need, an iPad is a better choice. It's better for reading, note taking, web browsing and other light usage because it runs a much lighter and more power efficient OS.

I'd buy a Surface Pro 4 to complement my laptop though, but due to its capabilities I'll have to buy an i5/256GB/8GB version with keyboard (and I don't want a keyboard for iPad) making SP4 much more expensive device. But well worth it though.

Those people who're comparing iPad and SP4 simply don't have enough brain capacity to look further than a spec sheet.

couldn't agree more with comment that say ipads are for games or reading bookstores, I have bought a couole of apps on iPad and found them a complete waste and when I requested a refund I found that you could only request that once or so and it takes a long time to get approved, overall definitely not for anything but reading a magazine which you can do with much cheaper alternatives

Any tablet becomes a toy unless you use "creation" and "productivity" apps on it.

Been using the iPad as a professor for years now son, so think before you open that mouth of yours.
