Anonymous, 11 Apr 2016Your comparison is so objective and technical.I'm by no means saying the G5 is a bad phone, it's not. I'm sure it's an awesome phone, and I'm on the fence about getting it and taking back my S7 Edge. The thing that's stopping me is the amount of modules widely available for the phone. I mean two? Come on now, and the DAC isn't even available in the states due to it not being approved by the FCC, and the fact that in one review I read that they weren't even able to power the phone on with it on until they put it on their European model tells me that LG intentionally is making this module not work with the US variant, c'mon now! Customization is the main selling point of this phone, why lock one of the two module's you release for this phone and intentionally make it not work with any variant outside of specific markets? Where's the customization in that? What if I want to break my phone? It's my device, I paid for it, I should be able to do with it what I want, not have LG forcibly tell me what I can and cannot use with this phone. That borderline's Apple's practices, among other hardware OEM's that like to lock their stuff up to only work how they want it to work.

With LG releasing a limited amount and then stating they're going to rely on third party companies to produce more tells me that LG really just wanted to be different for the sake of being different, with the hopes that other companies can bring something innovative out to use with this phone. Unless they do a 180, release more modules, and actually make this phone something more worthwhile, I won't even think twice about looking the other way. If 3rd party dev's get on board and start bringing out some awesome modules that actually improve the functionality of the phone past what it brings out of the box then I'll be more than happy to trade in my S7 Edge and grab this phone, only time will tell though.

People say ignore the modules and judge the phone for what it is, if that were the case it would be a middle of the road looking high powered flagship phone that would only attract those that prefer LG over Samsung, HTC, Huawei, or Apple. The phone from the early reviews, and some of the unboxing videos have shown the level of quality control that LG has put into this phone, which is none. Things like the gap on the back between the chin and the screen, excessive light bleed on the screen, paint chipping, random bulges in the back around the camera area where the antenna is just to name a few is not something anyone should invest the kind of money LG is asking for.

The S7 is popular mainly due to the quality of the build. Sure, Samsung has a history of laggy phones after a few updates, I myself never experienced it on my S6 or my girlfriends Note 4 after numerous system updates, but nonetheless, lots of people have complained and I'm going with that and saying that Samsung has that stigma. Nonetheless, the S7 has a high quality look, and feel to it, not with cheap materials either. Sure it has it's flaws, but the design of the phone, the amount that they were able to squeeze into that body, on top of putting a 3000mah (3600 for the Edge) and expandable storage with great hardware specs makes it a very tough phone to beat. The G5 is gonna have to see more modules before it will be able to really compete with the S7, otherwise it'll go down as just another LG phone with ideas that ultimately got left behind.

Just my two cents, my opinion, people will most likely not agree with my view on it. Being someone who's actually been researching the phone inside and out, playing with it in the store, as well as debated taking back a more expensive phone just to get it.. I've made my mind up on what I want to keep right now, my S7 Edge, only because it actually feels and works like an $800 phone, no gimmicks other than the Samsung Gear VR.

There's always the future and hopefully things play out in LG's favor, because I'd definitely like to pick one up eventually, because I will be continually reading on it and keeping tabs to see where it's at.

If LG allowed more support by releasing more modules instead of two, which one isn't even available world wide and then relying on third party companies to pick up the slack this device would be far more promising, but to me it shows LG was rushing head first without a course of action which doesn't bode well when introducing something new and different.

What makes the S7 a better phone t... moreIf you've read the reviews and seen some unboxing videos you'd see the g5 is played by quality control issues, not trying to be snarky, just giving you an fyi. Plus, only having one widely available module, and another only available in certain regions doesn't bode well when a company is not trying to show they're willing to back their own product but instead rely on third party companies to pick up after them.

I just wanna understand. What makes the S7 a better phone than the G5? Both phones have great displays, the SAME processing package, and the G5 shoots better than the S7, and the G5 is a more sophisticated smartphone; it tries to stand out, not to blend in, unlike the S7.

It's totally unfair, Under mild words we are believed G5 is much better n Camera, also structured. But Sammy has penetrated masses because it's huge profits are blamed instead of G5.

Since LG G5 is made out of cheap plastic with painted of fake aluminum, that modular is just a marketing gimmick, forcing you to buy an expensive accessories just to try and make it useful and most of all that UGLY design and low end looking make it not have a chance to S7 at all.

As tempted, and feverishly as I read about the G5, I love innovation and new things and ways of thinking and using a phone and technology. Buy, I opted to stay with my S7 Edge. Not just because it looks better, it also has a bigger screen, bigger battery (my pockets are already full of other stuff I carry daily, don't need to add a battery in there for my phone), and the performance thus far is rock solid. The S6 performed great, even after the plethora of updates I recieved, heck even my girls Note 4 performs like a champ, so, the laggy Samsung cliche for me doesn't exist.

I'm by no means a fanboy of any brand, I buy and use what I feel is best suited for my needs and what performs great, even if that meant buying only one brand of electronics then so be it, obviously in my eyes the quality of the product is up to what I want. Would I love to play around with the G5? Heck yeah, but would I pay the premium for a phone that has so many flaws (ones pointed out in the reviews and unboxing videos) and use it as my daily driver? No. The S7 Edge is a rock solid piece of hardware, with its flaws, but nothing major that has affected my experience using the phone.

                                      Just my two cents.
