USB type-C is superior to 3.5 jack in terms of signal transmission. i have not used the phone to tell you the quality difference exactly. i don't know you heard of sony,fiio high resolution DACs, till now high quality DAC chip in these hi cost devices process hi- res audio file and transmitted through 3.5 mm jack,.i guess this 3.5 mm jack have some output constrains with the quality like pins 1 for mic, 1 for right ,1 for left,some have 4th one for bass power,.these type c is new all in one standard with high power,data speed,bcz more pins for voltage and data transmission,so more like digital to digital than analog 3.5 mm. they even have separate type-c earphones and headphones. i don't know more in depth about this.

                                  Ritzie, 27 Apr 2016Invest in a dual ear bluetooth headset. That's more portableThe most expensive headphones/ earphones available are not of Bluetooth type, they are wired ones. No Bluetooth headphone can match the audio quality of a similarly priced wired one.

                                  In my eyes LeEco did a mistake by omitting the 3.5 mm audio jack. By doing so they saved some manufacturing cost, as quality analog audio hardware in the likes of DACs & headphone amplifier chips are expensive.

                                  We cannot even now objectively measure the sound quality of LeEco devices. The M-Audio equipment that gsmarena uses accepts analog audio signal from any other equipment having a 3.5 mm jack and then measures its audio performance. No audio measurement tool is designed to measure the digital audio output from LeEco. So if gsmarena uses the usb to 3.5mm adapter which many says will come as an accessory with all LeEco's, they will definitely be measuring the performance of the adapter containing the DAC + amplifier rather than the phone!!!

                                    As of now, no other top brands have usb-c headphoes/earphones.
                                    So we limited with 1 choice, leeco head/earphones.
                                    No gyroscope in le2,le2 pro : So not compatable with other VR headsets.
                                    our buying choice Limited to Leeco VR headset which has its own gyro

                                    The IR blaster in Leeco phones are not getting detected by other 3rd party remote control apps like 'Peel' and 'universal remote control'. So we have to stick with the basic 'leeco IR app' which lacks almost everything.
