to answer a few people's questions:

1 - SIM unlock is possible, i paid $11 Cdn to a site that gave me the SIM unlock code after I supplied the IMEI number.

2 - haven't been able to ROOT it yet, though..

3 - can NOT be used as a phone, at least not really. can use for sending and receiving SMS, and maybe doing an outgoing call using Google Hangouts Dialer, but cannot RECEIVE calls. can receive SMS, though. so, it's like half of a phone. but the nano-SIM card can be used for a data-only plan.

I just received my LG III 8.0 a few days ago and find that it's reasonably speedy, lightweight, generally a pleasure to use--subjectively roughly on par in terms of performance with my Snapdragon 800-powered Tab Pro 8.4. I was even surprised to find that it has an IR blaster so that it can be used to remotely control the TV.

Also, contrary to some reports, it's running Android 6.0.1 patched atm to May 2016.

The downside (and the reason why I'm considering returning it) is that although it's a 16GB device, there's only room for installation of 9GB of apps. This is because 7gb is taken up by the system, and the SD card is not usable for app installation. More specifically, the version of Android that's included has disabled 'Move to SD card' functionality AND has also disabled Adoptable Storage.

So it's a nice tablet, but I wouldn't recommend it unless LG issues a software update to allow the SD card to be used for applications.

They use normal USB port, (yes, the full size one using in desktop and laptop), so 2TB is kind of low.

AnonD-295604, 28 May 2016"Expandable up to 2TB" Have I read it right or wrong????having SDXC makes it possible by simply following the standard. I bet you that most phones that support SDXC and say they expand to 128 GB or such would actually go up to 2TB, just that they didn't test it yet (for obvious reasons) so they keep on the safe side just in case.
