And it is their first flagship, the zte axon was released at the end of 2015 and had a snapdragon 801. And it had their old ui. This is also their first phone after their partnership with designworks, a subsidiary of BMW, and their partnership with Dolby atmos.
Its pretty clear they have a different approach here, stop being so obtuse.

It was also a flagship and they have had many other flagships all of those were also with Near stock Android if you don't know and how many of those phones got updates...
In short there is no debating that ZTE is no good in aftersales support and updates as compared to other Chinese oems like oneplus and xiaomi there is no much developer support also for axonn and I doubt they hardly relase any sources for their phones

I don't care how much the OP3 costs after its "flash sale" (as pointless as those are), even at $349 the $449 Axon 7 is still a much better value. I can understand choosing the OP3 over a Galaxy S7 or iPhone 6s at half the price, but the mere existence of the ZTE Axon 7 makes the OP3 obsolete for all but the most cost-conscious consumers. Think about what you get for that extra $100:
-QHD AMOLED display (important thanks to Daydream VR)
-Daydream VR certification (low-persistence display, more accurate sensors, etc)
-Built-in 24-bit/192kHz DAC and amplifier
-Front-facing stereo speakers
-Double the storage
-20MP Samsung Isocell camera w/ OIS, EIS, PDAF, and sapphire lens
-More polished and far less derivative design
-Ergonomically-located rear fingerprint sensor that actually works (COUGH!OP2)
The OP3 is simply the latest me-too-flagship-wannabe out of China. The ZTE Axon 7 is something different. Something better.

There is Asus zenfone 3 deluxe, Zte Axon 7 and also Lenovo's zuk2; Are we talking about flagship killer? there'll might be 4 of them with the OnePlus3 companion in the middle of 2016, how about that Google/Apple?

They realized sooner from user complaints and quickly made that up with the Axon 7. Their MiFavor overlay is regarded as a near-stock Android overlay as they tinkered the OS to a minimum without swaying from the standard Android material design. Which is likely to get fast android updates.
Warranty depends on regions. Even if there is a common global warranty announced from a company, there is no guarantee if this is implemented in your region. And there is that carrier story too.
