Just goole for PWV and you'll realise in about 2 minutes that there is no chance this device is even remotely accurate.

So basically another useless MUH HEALTH application where the result can only turn out bad if you're fat.

Nokia is company I trust, so these measurements must be accurate. Nokia as a company is more professional, trustful compared to other technology companies that mostly use marketing tricks to sell you products.

Smart scale doesn't replace a checkup but it can store and compare the data.

AnonD-5197, 08 Jun 2016I've always wondered about these so called "smartscales". A... morei thought the same, though i've never been interested enough to do any research. but i find it hard to image that readings from external sensors on a scale that i merely step on could give me accurate information about my body's composition and other stuff. the muscle/fat/bone ratio must be calculated with generic formulas. there's no way a simple sensor could determine that, is there? heart rate, sure. this "pulse wave velocity", i guess with a sufficiently sensitive sensor also plausible, although i'm kinda sceptical because that sounds like a value that's quite prone to interferences and it's probably not identical in every part of the body.

so... again, without having done any research, i feel like all these things are just meant to provide definite numbers about the current condition because people like numbers, be they correct or not, and derive a sort of placebo certainty from them. many people seem to prefer referring to numbers and stats rather than their own feelings. at the end of the day, it's gonna make people either content with their physical condition or drive them to do more exercise. it also caters to the ongoing craze of self-optimization...

I've always wondered about these so called "smartscales". Are they actually even close to accurate? I remember my family having one a while ago, I never trusted it.
