AnonD-75819, 19 Jun 2016There is sufficient RAM free, i agree on that but you are e... moreyup, and he/she only own Redmi 2, not the Redmi Note 3 pro like my friend does, yet still dare to talk like MIUI is not RAM-hungry OS.

Here I'll give u some facts, if u still stubborn on the 'large free space' in ur device:

            1. Redmi 2 is powered by a cheap SoC, SD410. If they subjected such SoC with their usual bloatware-rich OS, free space of RAM in Redmi 2 will be around 700-800 mb at most; this is happen with Redmi Note 2 my dad owned.

            2. Redmi 2 MIUI default is Kitkat, which means Google toned down the agressive resource-hunger Android found in Jelly Bean, so that low-end device with 512 or 768 mb device could work decently.
I don't know about the latest MIUI updates for Redmi 2, but I believed Xiaomi realized the fact that previous Redmi series (Redmi 1 & 2) would not run seamlessly with the 'usual' bloatware-filled MIUI, therefore they 'trim' down most of their bloatware so u can get ur acclaimed 1.2 gb free RAM

            3. I was the owner of Alcatel Flash Plus powered by MT6752M with 2/16 version. Instead of trying to mimick MIUI, adding bloatware to their so-called 'customized' Android, they chose to flash it with Lewa OS Kitkat-based. At the first boot, like u said, I get around 1.1-1.2 gb free space of RAM. This means, MIUI is at best a decent OS compared to MANY rich-featured, yet RAM-friendly OS

my money is between mi max and phab 2 plus the one with better battery life and screen and lower price will be my next phone for reading mangas on the bus hehehe.

I guess this is the variant they are releasing in India along with the 32GB variant, and just like previous Xiaomi has done with MI5 we are not going to get the two higher end variants.

AnonD-523334, 19 Jun 2016Who said u miui is a ram hungry os!? I have a redmi 2 (2gb ... moreno, my friend own Redmi Note 3 Pro and on the first boot, the available RAM is around 800-900 mb (means 1.1-1.2 GB occupied by system), while android stock in Alcatel Flash Plus 2 just occupied max 700mb of 2 GB on first boot.

This is the reason WHY most people don't want that 2/16 version of ANY Xiaomi devices, and just go to 3/32 or 3/64 version.

Since MIUI 5, MIUI OS is known for its bloatware, one of the reason why MANY, if not most, just flash it to CM or AOSP version not too long after they bought, and also one of the reason Xiaomi choose to LOCKED their bootloader.

Still think MIUI not RAM-hungry OS? Suit urself

ps. BTW, redmi 2 is Xiaomi's style of their own AndroidOne, so ur MIUI OS is heavily modified to create that feel of 'large free space' of RAM (read it in a certain forum)

Xiaomi Redmi series = Infinix Hot series = Cheap yet decent android-powered phone

Xiaomi Redmi Note = Cheap version of Xiaomi Mi series

Xiaomi Mi series = (supposed to be) Flaghip-killer smartphone

I have a redmi 2 (2gb 16gb) as my side phone and when I had ~100 apps including Google play apps, there was always 1-1.2 gb free out of 2gb. Now I have removed all the extra apps and have 1.3-1.4 gb free out of 2gb always even if 7-10 apps are running simultaneously, 1 gb is AT LEAST free.
So don't know what you are talking about, but I guess u concluded this result because u heard miui is very customized. Yes it is. But I think u never used a xiaomi phone for extended period.
