Snapdragon 820 Galaxy S7 and S7 edge finally rooted

Back in March, around the time of the Galaxy S7’s launch, users were upset to find that their devices (US models) did not have an unlockable bootloader. And while that still remains true to this day, there is now a root method that works with the Snapdragon 820 variants of the model.

        HOWEVER, the root method for the S7 does NOT trip Knox.

        What you will get is a permanent root with the ability to use Titanium Backup, install Xposed modules and play with Kernel settings and build.prop. Very fun stuff. And you can remove all of this and go "back to stock" at any time to get Samsung Pay and the phone looking like normal again, if you so wish.

                AnonD-556180, 04 Jul 2016Wonder wat technology be like five years..Well, as you can see here it will become harder and harder to root Samsung phone. Almost to the level where it become un-rootable. New tech is getting more advanced to not let us root it anymore.

                  Yeah. I get it, no more Sammy pay - I don't care, I'm not gonna use it anyway, but what happens if you loose Knox security?
                  Will the phone still work and stuf? I don't care about the fingerprint scanner either.

                      Only super rich folks, and they own 2 or more of S7, would root their second expensive phone in the world after iphone.

                        Rooting will kill the ability for Samsung Pay to work (confirmed), however.

                          What about G5?

But for now, there are little reason to root as it will disable the ota monthly security update.

Root allows me to do many, many things with my devices. Making them more useful. Titanium BackUp. RemoDroid. Being able to flash ROMs instantly from my microSD.

                                However, after seeing what the S7 Edge, there's not so much reasons to do so. Android Developers learned features from root functions and made it possible in unrooted devices.

                                        Isn't root risky these days ? I don't think you get OTA security patches if you root , not to mention that you void your warranty and loose Knox protection.
