"The port on the bottom is USB Type-C, but don't let that fool you - it only conforms to USB 2.0 specs."

Does this mean a USB type C hub with and HDMI output will not work with an external monitor?

Qualcomm redeemed themselves with the 820's custom core setup, little no no overheating issues to speak off so you can stop using that cheap excuse. And I don't know what you're talking about when you implicitly claim the 820 is bad in real world performance, have you seen with your squinty eyes all the latest flagships using it or are you just out to promote Hooway's weakass Krillian cause they got you in their payroll? High multi-core SoC's are a huge battery drainer no matter how hard the OEMs try to optimize them. The SoC's you mentioned have their advantages but the SD820 is just powerful enough to play in the same ballpark with them and their custom dual core setup is the best on Android, and it's no question they have the best GPU in the biz so don't even bother denying it lol

AnonD-463876, 04 Aug 2016Idc a piece of shit SoC is still a piece of shit, SD rules ... moreExactly, SuckD is notorious for POS SOCs that heat up the most and perform the worst, the 820 is no different. Their SOCs went to crap right after the 800 series, especially the massive fail 810 that dragged down so many manufacturers+flagships. A bench king that gives empty numbers but can't perform in real life won't change anything, the so called "weak" Kirin (to some ignorant people) crushes SD and Exynos in everything and is the strongest performing SOC to date in real useage. Manufacturers create their own SOCs to increase profit margins not to give competitors an edge to compete with their own phones, not many manufacturer uses Kirin, Exynos or Apple's A9 apart from the companies who created them but each one of the mentioned SOCs is miles ahead of anything put out by SD.

The only people still loving SD chipsets are ones who've never seen actual comparison videos. SD turds of sht can't even keep up with Exynos nevermind Kirin, SD820 was destroyed even by the Kirin 950 in everything (including graphical performance) in every single video out there but you can keep holding onto meaningless benchmark numbers and dreaming. Better custom rom support is the only advantage you mentioned that holds true, if you can count it as one, but pure performance wise SD820 is by far the worst SOC out of the three and throttles the most. No one cares if you'd use Kirin or not, stay with the bench king and hail the bench king that's only ever good at benching all you want, the videos are out there and facts don't change.

SD's are way more reliable in the long run, has faster graphics engine and way better custom ROM support than any other chipset out there. I'd never buy a MediaTurd/Kyron phone nor would I use one even if it was given to me as a gift. Exynos is great and is the best multi-core performer no one is denying that, SD is great for the reasons I mentioned above. A few obscure YouTube videos that shows very subtle differences isn't gonna change anyone's mind bruh but enjoy your Pee-Pee 9 lol

The difference between the 950/955 and the SD820 is more than big enough in everything from app opening, game loading, actual gaming to browsing. The SD820 can't even compete with the Exynos 8890 even though everyone was whining about the Exynos being a weaker SOC at first cause they were all depending on benchmarks then found out the Exynos actually performs better in real useage and give better battery life.

Benchmarks show one thing while real world performance shows the opposite and puts the SD820 at the bottom, there is no question which one is more accurate. A SOC can score the highest yet have the worst performance in real life like the SD820.

Just see the benchmarks, the GPU's in the SD820 and E... moreWhy would I need to see benchmarks when there are so many actual real world useage speed comparisons? I've seen tons of real world speed tests/gaming comparisons and the SD820 comes dead last between the three SOCs every time, including gaming comparisons showing frame rate. Benchmarks don't translate into real world performance, which is exactly why I made my comment, people need to stop just looking at Antutu or whatever benchmark and think it's the same when it comes to real world useage. If we were looking at Antutu the SD820 would come in first when it's the exact opposite in real useage.

Huawei's Kirin 955 silicon CPU performance is powerful, indeed but the GPU isn't as good as the ones in the Qualcomm and Samsung chips.
Just go to the Huawei P9 review and see for yourself the Basemark tests, the GPU of the Kirin 955 is no match to the one inside the Mi5, G5, S7 and even S6 Edge.
