[deleted post]well, depends on where you live. if you network provider has the update on their site then you can do it on your phone just by using the internet, go on their site & follow the procedures.
otherwise, you go to SE website, choose the phone & check for update. then follow the instructions, connect your phone with the supplied charging USB cable to your desktop/laptop & then it'll update the firmwire!
P.S. MAKE SURE TO BACK UP EVERYTHING ON YOUR PHONE MEMORY CARD BEFORE UPDATING CAUSE YOU'LL LOSE ALL THE CONTACTS,MEDIAS,DATA!

lool it seems many manufactures are suffering from android 2.2!! Now I respect se even more for not rushing like others and treating their customers like lab rats! Good for you se.
If 2.1 will be fast, reliable and stable than it's much better than a buggy froyo with tons of problems!
These are some of the problems with moto phones that have upgraded to froyo:
- Rebooting the phone causes it to get stuck on the Motorola logo
- Phone randomly reboots for no reason
- Problems with Wi-Fi connections
- "Force close" error occurs when checking the Battery Manager app
- Video, music, and image files won't load
- Music tracks cut off early

Great to see the new features and interface of X10 2.1. I really hope this update will fix the problems of X10 1.6 and improve speed etc.
It also seems that it's not just Samsung who are having problems with froyo 2.2 update, Motorola are having a lot of problems aswell (links below). I hope SE make an awesome update for X10 2.2!

You must update it through your pc, and no it's still not available yet, but it will be rolling after a week or so.

I must agree my friend that all what you have states is true, sony products are well made with a very high quality standard. I just respect that they give their selves the time to do proper testing before rushing things to the market like other manufactures if you know what I mean.
The only mobile that I like from samsung is the wave lol, I must agree it really looks good and works great. But it's 1 out of 1 billion phones hehe, can you imagine man samsung releases more phones than nokia! Just go to the update support for se for example and you will see the whole list of mobiles.
But although samsung produces billion mobiles, they still lack a proper program for upgrades, and this is one of the major reasons they suck in their products, because they truly care about quantity more than quality! Whereas it's the opposite way around with sony products, and that's the reason they were always ranked, trusted and respected more than other companies.

Is this a OTA update? Or must you connect it to your computer to update it? Is it available in Asia, more specifically, Singapore, already?

exactly, samsung blows although the wave is cool, for a woman i mean. my wife loves it. i got also got her a samsung netbook and the hdd is already making loud clicking noises.
se is simply the best. yes the updates are sometimes slow but they are perfect. x10 with 1.6 is smoother than most androids with 2.1
also, we have the best accessories. look at the mw600 and the liveview. also, sony bluetooth headphones are out of this world just look at the DR-BT50. simply amazing.

lol no not yet, it's just that some users still don't have this important program, so I posted it to make things easier for them and by the time the update rolls, all they need is to download it directly :)
You know what man, when I read in the samsung froyo update forum, I just realize how samsung truly sucks when it comes to upgrades. I'm glad we sticked to Sony, maybe they are a late, but at least we will get a realible, stable and fast firmware!

For all you folks worrying about upgrading your amazing X10, no need to worry just install this program, and then connect your x10 with your pc through usb, and follow the steps in the screen, and then enjoy :D
X10 will put SGS to shame after 2.1! Because many users are complaining of the lag after froyo, too bad samsung didn't do enough testing for their phone, but who cares we already have a SONY ;)
