8GB RAM is just pure cow dung excuse to jack up the price and their way of saying "Oh hey! We code it that awesome enough that's why this thing has 8GB RAM folks!". The minute a user finalized their day to day setup complete with apps and widgets backed by the customary background services, then they'd notice the whiff.
