My S6 edge+ in Canada still has June 1 security patch level. The only plus point about them is the exceptional stability and performance of the software and hardware, the best phone I've ever had. Update speed is horrible, and they don't have the courage to confront carriers and tell them to move it, people buy it after all, and there is no money in updates.
Personally, unless I see exceptional effort made with the nougat update, ported note 7 ui and features, I'm done with Samsung as you are paying significantly more for hardware only marginally superior and you get the same poor support. Not worth it any more. I'll go with a Chinese oem such as Oneplus next time.

Wandile, 27 Sep 2016Fail. Samsung is super slow with the updates.Maybe, but I am installing a big Galaxy S6 Edge update right now. It came in last night, but I wanted to fully recharge the battery before letting it install. I am on Verizon, but the update seems to have come directly from Samsung.
