Sorry Google, you don't have reality distortion field like Apple does for its fans. This is a no-go for that price. Pretty lack-luster.

It's like a slightly upgraded Nexus 6P (well, except new design and removal of stereo speaker). Not worth upgrading.

I hope that the pricing is a mistake. The Pixel XL should be the device to not exceed the $649 price ceiling. If it does than good luck with sales Google.

$400/$500 or even $500/$600 would've seemed fairer, but I guess Google is also copying Apple in terms of price.

It's about time a new smartphone came to fight the Iphone and Galaxy. Htc's, LG's and Xperia's were never a match. Hopefully Google will be able to shake things up. The design better be a bit better on the back and offer something the others don't. Iphones haven't changed for years. Google have to play their cards right.

I surely hope "The Pixel is reportedly going to start at $649" is a big overstatement. You can get Xiaomi mi5s for half that amount, and their hardware seems to be very similar. And both have that "bigger screen" variant, too.
In light of recent Note7plosions, I'm more interested in Xiaomi products. They have some flaws but they don't seem to explode as often. I'm also very interested in Pixel, but not at the cost of my entire monthly salary.

Verizon as the sole carrier for these phones in carrier stores in the US??
Well well..we all remember the Galaxy Nexus debacle of a few years back. The good thing is hope ppl won't have to wait long to grab one online thru Google store or Best buy.
But first we have to be wowed by these phones..if not well hello V20, Mate 9 and a few other heavy hitters like the recent LeEco with 8GB RAM etc.
