Hopefully it'll be a slightly modified version for the P10 next year.

I do agree on them bot using MP12... BUT I'm just happy they have gone away from MP4 Lol

AnonD-510098, 19 Oct 2016Kirin 960 just came out looking at the Kirin 96 specs, I'm amazed that they have significantly upped their game.

Still, 16nm architecture for 2017 flagship SoC is a letdown. Why not use 10nm like Qualcomm's as well as Samsung's next-gen SoC? Since 2015 they have been using 16nm architecture, why not move on?
If this goes on, they will be called "second coming of MediaTek", as they are also don't publicly release their kernel source like MediaTek, and persistent in using older architecture for cutting production cost.

BTW, why use Mali G71 MP8, while they can equip it with MP12 like Exynos 8890 did?
Using insufficient GPU will cause their gaming & video decoding performance lower than rival's flagship SoC.
Moreover, we still don't know if Huawei will add 4K video recording ability in this "half-baked" flagship, or Quick charge feature, as many Huawei flagships did not equipped with big battery capacity, therefore making having Huawei smartphones become a pain in the ass when it's out of juice and need to be charged.

Overall, with 4core Cortex A73 high-clocked, Huawei CPU's prowess will be undeniably categorized "monster".
And hopefully, Cortex A72 architecture will be used to create mid-range SoC, such as Kirin 65x series

Anonymous, 19 Oct 2016Sucks with kirin processor. No custom roms. Don't buy this oneNo custom roms is still better than overheating and battery drain. Snapdragons are extremely overrated. MTKs tend to overheat too. I recently bought a Huawei with Kirin CPU and the difference is HUGE. First phone i can use without worrying it will overheat.

Look, Huawei's in-house Kirin chipsets lack 4K... moreAgree that they do not have most of the features. but again they do not heat up like iron box Qualcomms including 61X series chipsets. Qualcomm sucks when it comes to heat management issues. Kirin rocks .

                      AnonD-510098, 19 Oct 2016TrueNot really.
Look, Huawei's in-house Kirin chipsets lack 4K recording ability, Quick charge, no Audio optimization like Qualcomm, and ALWAYS equip low-performing GPU, as the best they use are Mali T880MP4 for their greatest 95x series.

So, no tech enthusiast will think of buying Huawei's device if their in-house SoC build as half-baked as this.
If they are making this kind of chipset for cheap, like MediaTek, noone will argue, but even MediaTek have made their Helio series support 4K video recording, Quick charge, and better GPU every release, for cheap.

So, the BIG question, will Huawei be serious in developing their in-house SoC like Apple did, or, will they become the second Mediatek, but MUCH, MUCH money monger?
