Check out this Google Pixel VS iPhone7 performance test

20 October 2016
There’s no denying that the iPhone 7’s A10 fusion chip is quite a beast. Fellow YouTuber Super Saf made a comparison video of the Pixel going head to head against the iPhone 7 in two speed tests. The first one is a performance speed test, which shows us the benchmark results between the two devices and both devices’ abilities to load and recall apps onto the RAM.

Raphi7, 21 Oct 2016There are tons of things to do that can optimize your andro... moreThat's the bit I don't like on androids. I need to do that to keep it working as it should. It's not just touchwiz. My xperia was the same. iOS is simpler to use (comes with limitations though) and it just works. But i just like amoled displays that's why i want an android. If apple switches to amoled, i will not stop buying androids.

iPhone 7 seems to have more hp under the hood as the benchmarks suggest, but doesn't seem fully optimized considering the performing processor in the Pixel actually kept up and even beat the iPhone 7 in a few basic tasks. Given the single core performance of the benchmarks, it comes as no surprise that all the games performed way quicker on the iPhone 7. Most games and applications are not written well or at all to take advantage of multiple cores, so single core performance is the most important. I do wonder if iOS actually does a better job of virtualizing a single core across multiple cores so apps are using multiple cores whether they are written for it or not. Ordinarily single core performance is a fraction of multiple core performance, but those benchmarks on the iPhone seem to suggest that the processor either has unbalanced cores or can simulate a single core with multiple cores.

I really appreciate your effort to make this test as clean as it would have been. I'll go with Iphone, always. Android slows down after a couple of months.

_Go to settings- storage- cashed data- ok. Don't worry it will not clear any personal data on your phone.
_Uninstall Facebook apps because they are just to heavy and tend to accumulate tons of data over time. You can check Facebook on Chrome (wich will also give you notifications like the app) and add a bookmark for it on your home screen.
_Go to settings - application manager - open the "running apps" tab and see wich apps are consuming the most ram . Also open the "downloaded" tab and see wich apps are the heaviest.
          Trie to unninstall those apps.
_ You can also turn on developper settings ( tap on the build number in the "about" setting until a message appears and says it is enabled), and open "process" stats wich will give you more info on running processes.
_Also, try to turn off unnecessary features on your S6 as they eat up ram and slow down your phone.

Finally, keep in mind that Touchwiz tends to slow down over time as it isa bit heavy.

However, it's on jelly bean. Nougat actually is the first android version that i find interesting. Ios 10 I'm not really sold on, but it's fast no doubt. My android tablet is beyond slow. My iphone 6 has maintained speed consistently. My 950xl started off super slow and has been getting speedier and speedier. Actually got an update last night that once again sped things up. Some claim redstone 2 fast insider test builds are really fast but i'm weary of using them till something really neat shows up. That something is the new continuum version they showed off at ignite that is just like desktop with windows and all.

It is arguable that the S7 Edge is more attractive but the plus of timely updates and no bloat makes this a no brainier for me, personally. Suggest people go look at it in the metal....awesome!

Ram management is done better though. But in terms of performance, again, there isn't anything special about the iPhone. Despite doing better than the competition in benchmarks, and despite this magical 'optimisation', it still doesn't do much better than any android phone in actual usage, and is actually worse in standard tasks that don't involve heavy gaming. Completely superfluous.

I feel like I need to be very careful what and how many apps I install on my androids. I regularly do a factory reset to fix this but my iOS devices are extremely low maintenance. My iphone 5s is as fast as my S6. After a format, my s6 is faster but then gets even slower than my 5s. Hopefully the pixels will be more optimised. Otherwise, there is no need to buy one.

                            Games are secondary function.

Tests are meant to check regular activities a person does with phones. If these basics don't work fast, no point in having a phone which plays games blazingly fast.

I suggest you to buy a phone after conducting speed test with a PlayStation or X Box. You should buy a phone which wins.

"Google still has a bit to go to catch up to the iPhone 7 in terms of software optimization and now raw performance. Regardless, it’s got a great device on its hands, we cannot wait to get our hands on our own units and test them for ourselves!"

Whaaaat?! LOL. iPhone just smoked Pixel on intensive games. Everything else as you said were on par. Pixel even managed to beat iPhone on THINGS THAT MATTER, camera and fingerprint!

So how come the end conclusion was like that? Like iPhone trumped everything? RIDICULOUS.

Credit where it's due, the pixel is not a mean achievement by Google. The styling may not appeal to some and the price will put off even more, but simply as a device it's pretty cool.
If only Google could do something about the budget conscious market....

They should run PPSSPP emulator with CPU/GPU intensive game (for example Call of Duty 3, Vice City Stories, ...) and DosBox (X86 desktop PC emulator). These show us the real performance of the phones.

I think they should perform speed test after using these phone for 3-4 months. I'm sure by the end of 3-4 months the pixel will be full of junk files and start lagging. Because all android flagships start lagging after some time but iPhone performance remains same.
