Google Pixel survives an hour under water

23 October 2016
Unlike most of the flagship smartphones these days, the Google Pixel doesn’t come with a water resistance rating that allows it to be submerged under water. It only has an IP53 rating, which means it can survive light sprays of water at an angle.

It appears that the answer is both 'yes' and 'no'. The ads all say that "spills" are covered, which is supported by their support page: https://support.google.com/store/answer/6283618 but the detailed TAC excludes "spilled liquids". So I guess that means that if the device gets wet you can have it replaced but if it gets wet because you spilled something on it you can't? Strange indeed. I guess that means just don't claim you spilled something on it!

I once dropped my HTC M7 in a bucket of water one evening (in kitchen n thought I lost it) and found it next morning. Stayed a good 7-8 hours submerged in water and survived! Still works fine!

Wouldn't water damage be covered under the insurance policy?

Why settle for a blown speaker when you can get a proper water resistant IPhone 7 or Galaxy S7. Pixel doesn't look any bit better with or without this test.

for daily usage, as long as my phone can survive heavy rain and splash-resistant/spill resistant, that's enough

He also did note that the speaker was working again after it dried, water probably only made it to the mesh.

BTW Samsung made S5 water resistant even with removable batteries. Who else did it?
Also Galaxy S7 is water resistant too(in small body).
So what was the point of your comment?

My main point was, that iPhone7 lost it's speaker in only 30min(what time was in Apple's ad) but with this article GSMA are exited anyway.

I am yet to meet a person who carries his phone in swimming pool or a shower,

This is ideally a wrong way of marketing an element of a phone,

Yes phone is one of the Accessories now a days for either of the gender... And yes it's a status statement to carry Expensive Accessories.

Let's keep it simple and talk more about what are these gadgets

Indian, 23 Oct 2016No One Will Pay Money For This Ugly Design Phone ............. moreI guess it depends if someone want a device primarily for showing off or to actually use....

Personally the looks of the device is the LEAST interesting quality of any device.

The compromise between Usability, Portability and Sturdiness is what matters to me. But of course I'm an old guy way beyond teenage concerns...

But that said, I do agree that the design is more appalling than appealing...
