I'll take SD card over internal storage any day of the week. Easier to transferring pics from phone to phone, easier to backup content to other devices.

The Mate 9 will be Huawei's best flagship smartphone with features & price to match so far, it would be curious to know how Huawei can top this with something even better coming next year, I am a fan already & it would be on my X'mas list.

Ohh yeah, you can just pop out the micro sd card and put it into your new phone. Backup on cloud is long and uses data. Plus MICRO SD CARDs are cheap and convenient

And in terms of actual usage it performs even better than benchmarks suggest. The mate 8 performs just as well as phones like HTC 10 in usage.

FYI Most people don't give a damn about the speed of their micro sd card. They just want to be able to store their data without cluttering their phone's internals.

If you really care about optical zoom, you should had bought the Samsung Galaxy K Zoom which had 10x Optical Zoom. Or rather, you should have considered buying the Moto Z with the Motomod which again allow you to have 10x Optical Zoom. Just stop with 'i've waited several years' cr*p. The Galaxy K Zoom had been announced in 2014 while the Moto Z was already announced this year.
