Sony, forever! Sony never deteriorates over time. Never explodes, doesn't crack up easily (especially with new metal-back phones). Can work for ages.
Sony gives you business-class look.
Not toy-ish look as Samsung does.

Make sense.
Sony's main target market is their loyal fanboys, so the cream of the crop would've already bought the phone at original price. Now is just a tiny price drop to get the rest of the fanboys that have not done so. This will also create a space for newer phone to be launched at $700 while still having the XZ on the lineup.
