Ive waited for ages for a bezel-less phone or just with a great body/screen ratio.
There were Several phones who attempted it (Sharp aquos 302sh, sharp aquos crystal, xperia zl (with more bezel but had camera at the bottom),...)
I honestly hope for the next iphone to attempt it aswell because that would mean other compaines will copy that style and the market will be full with them.
This thing is not my optimal phone because its still too big. id love to buy that bezel-less style on a 5.5" or 5.2" screen then it would be as big as current 4.7" phones but with a big screen and great specs.
all in all, im really glad that this phone is so successful!

If you lo... moreNo they didn't take a diagonal percentage, and the navigation bar isn't permanent, it tucks away and uses the full screen. After all your time wondering GSMA you should have at least seen Marques video on it:

Don't get xiaomi. You'll learn that there support us pretty poor. I got their first nipad and they never updated Android once. Still stick on Android 4.4.4 and I believe it is no longer supported. Also there forums is cringe and is the height of fonboyism. Don't believe there propaganda. MIUI is full of problems and the fanboys are too brainwashed to believe it.

Go watch some YouTube video. When the phone is playing video, there is black bar on left of screen when in landscape.

Mi MIX is a big success for the company, as it was sold in just 10-seconds. Shortly after it was unveiled, other companies have started working on a similar phone. One of those companies is Meizu, who should unveil the bezel-less phone by the end of 2016.

You could take the dimensions straight from Xiaomi's site, like gsmarena have (you can see on the mi mix spec sheet), and you would end up with 84% screen to body ratio. But if you choose to not include the permanent navigation bar display it drops further to 79%. For example, if you were to watch a video or play a game, it wouldn't use the full 6.4" 17:9 display, since videos and games are at 16:9, instead it would use 6.1" of the display and leave the navigation bar there.

And every other display, and all content, comes in 16:9. So what would happen is that the Nav bar would always be there, or you would have an awkward black space always there if you managed to get rid of it.
Now, if you accept that the nav bar would always be there, you are left with 6.1" of usable screen space, and 78.9% screen to body ratio excluding the Nav bar. These numbers aren't innovation and are similar to what the Huawei mate 8 has. Including the Nav bar as a part of the display when its always there is like trying to include Samsung's home button as a part of the display.

Software keys always made more sense because they want whatever you need them be (and hide when not used), wth are you smoking? Having a strip of unused bezel just for buttons is not an innovation, Google made it clear 5 years ago, some OEMS only now are realizing. If anything Xiaomi was late in realizing.

As far as mi mi goes apple will try anything like this in probably 2020 or 2021
