March 2017 not here yet and march is midway between iphoe launches
So it could still come...
BUT the iphone7 is not selling as well as Apple had hoped
Apple may have shot themselve in the foot alos by announcing 3 iPhone in 2017
So soon after the ipjhone 7 could depress sales of the IP7
We know it will be 10 yaers since Apple launched so it will go big on many things , there will be design change as well
So if Apple are worried re iP7 sales it most likely WONT released an SE as that could shift sale to it
If the iP7S /IP8 ? the 2017 version whatever name Apple will drag customes back
Apple will only want you to purchase the SE when sales are VERY good to mop up the market
If not released in 2017 it will be low sales of the 7 being the reason, DIFINITELY 03/2018!
it can't be released anywhere near September as sales affect iPhones
Apple are NOT Samsung and rely on only one phone, any variation only add to the total
sale, only offer somenthing new when your you DON'T have to offer a new phone

Who would still buy that m... moreExcept for the fact that it kept being sold out in many countries because of the great demand for a compact and powerful phone. The most probable reason for apple not refreshing it after another year is that the profit margins are too small for them. Even though the sales were good.

Instead of waiting for any other samsung series phone to explode apple should start making better phones. They won't get Lucky every time.
Updating SE series (with larger screen) would have been a minor step in right direction. They say I phone 7 was the most anticipated phone of 2016. Now forget about pixel, samaung, and LG even huawei has better camera than IP7. Other than OS and speed Iphone has nothing special to go for.

Oh, and Appleinsider seems to have misread it. It is the first quarter 2017 that Kuo predicted to have 40-50m sales, since it was the first quarter 2016 that had 51.2m sales. The current quarter includes holiday sales and is supposed to be their best quarter, last year it was 70m. .
But anyway, the reason they're ditching se is probably because the margins were too small. They'll probably launch a small phone with iPhone 7s (as per rumours) and make it more expensive than se.

The smartphone sales growth game is over for Apple. They'll probably try to go more into services and content to make up for it. Their car plans fell apart too, and they'll resign to the software of cars instead.
Meanwhile Google is taking a different approach, and going from software into hardware. Although they aren't being 'forced' like Apple is.
