Anonymous, 10 Nov 2016No loose contact ever in any of my phones. 1 minute downti... moreok so diff POVs..understandable...but the auxillary battery is basically non removable right?? i havent checked it out...anyway it wont come to mainstream since project ara was binned..
good battery cradles are difficult to find..yeah amazon makes it easier but there are so many battery packs that come with 20000mah and so on charge..and you already have the phone's original charger to charge the battery pack..so its a win win..and talking about laptop batteries..possibly you havent seen the hp envy batteries..those were removable and huge...and yes chrging them was a mess but you have to take your back pack anyway so carrying an extra battery is easy

I had a couple for my note 4.... moreNearly nowan (aside from you? and a handful of people) ever aquired an additional battery to theyr phones, whereas alternatively, South Korea provided additional batteries in theyr Samsung/LG devices that were native to the country, which gave the term replaceable battery, meaning. Clearly its not a solution anymore, because everyone prefers to have something that is slim and water resistant, rather than thick and with higher chances of bending, cracking or battery damage all together.

viveksubhash, 10 Nov 2016when you talk about replaceable batteries, you have to talk... morePower banks and removable batteries are completely different things.

Power banks mean you charge your phone more frequently which means more charge-discharge cycle used up, more frequent charging, which equals to faster battery degradation. When your phone's non-removable battery died, swollen, won't hold a charge anymore, the power bank will not save your phone. Plus it's an extra inconvenience that you have to carry another device + a cable. Also the charging port will wear out.

The only one good solution is the removable battery. Not only you can replace the discharged battery to a freash spare one, but also you can buy a 2x or 3x bigger, higher capacity extended battery (like Zerolemon 9000 - 10000mAh ones) that repaces the phone's stock battery. It is perfect and unbeatable feature. It wipes the floor with any non-removable battery phone.

You're just a Samsung or Apple fanboy who is trying to justify the design flaw of those fashionphones: non-removable battery.

Ok.. I get it. This will result in low charging time. But what would be long term effects on your battery? Won't it lose a lot - say 50% capacity in 1 year due to such rapid charging?

And kills your battery twice as fast :) if non-removable battery wasn't enough already!

Anonymous, 10 Nov 2016The higher the charging current the faster the battery wears.OEM's are pushing customers to upgrade their phones yearly... apple fans are happy to do so. So a normal battery gives you about 2 years worth of life, so if those companies continue to shame users with 2 year old phones then this should not be an issue.

1 minute downtime. Even with fast charge you get more than an hour of downtime (you can't /shouldn't use your phone while charging). Even that is easily fixed as some Chinese companies did by adding an auxiliary battery that keeps the lights on while you do the swap.

Battery cradles are compact and direct to AC. They are as easy to find and carry as a wall charger.

Phones don't just need a usb, they also need a wall charger. Batteries only need a cradle (which often goes direct to the wall).

Like I said people love battery anxiety. The removable batteries downsides could easily be fixed (as they well did in concept designs and Chinese phones). But then again how are you gonna push the next phone of the series if you give the customers the capacity to replace the number 1 culprit of aged phones (aged cells)?

Instead you sell to them a worse solution tell them that the problems were insurmountable (they were easily fixable in fact) and let them believe it...

BTW laptop removable batteries were a bad idea. Hard to carry a spare and they had to be far smaller just so that to be removable. Phone removable batteries can hold up to 90% of the charge of a sealed one. Not even a good comparison.

9V at 4A is 36W, you probably meant at 3A.
Also, so far the most reliable QC seems to be 2.0.

Anonymous, 10 Nov 2016It is. Replaceable batteries. I had a couple for my note 4.... morewhen you talk about replaceable batteries, you have to talk about battery banks...it means no down time on the phone..not even seconds..and a single battery can charge the phone twice or thrice nowadays, while costing how much an official replacement battery will cost..it also will charge with any regular usb cable and wont need a battery cradle..so removable batteries are gone..even laptops dont have them..theres no use crying over it...
also afaik, removable battery had the problem of the phone's back not being secure enough, causing loose contacts..and i'm not talking about any random phone..its the n95, a king at its time, i think i still have one lying around, with a loose battery cover looking like a toothless old man

                            will 'Boom' or not?

One I would charge, one I would use, one I would keep on me. Then most companies decided to dump that technology and we're back to battery anxiety.

It was a simple choice that consumers took. They don't actually care for battery life, if they did, sealed phones would never become (as) popular. I don't take seriously people who say that battery is not enough (back when it was you didn't care, you chose this).

Do you guys even realise that companies like Oppo and Huawei, are able to maintain theyr smartphones cool while charging and not being used (which is what everyone should do when theyr phone is charging), which means they are relatively cold to the touch and the wall adapter is the one taking the heat, efficiently? Also, this is the cheapest and most reliable way of providing longer battery life, which to be honest, if all flagships had 3500-4500 mAh, it would be plenty for them to last a whole day of intense use and charge in less than an hour from 0 to 100% with technologies like this one. You guys want perfect batteries, but even in 50 years people will be asking for years worth of batteries and so on, which is just not possible on such a small compartment!

This is good for those times during the day or something where you want to quickly get some extra charge onto your phone, but for the regular overnight charges each night it'd be best to use a slow 1A (5W) charger to prevent wearing out your battery quicker
