Should've priced it right from the very start. $600 for a phone nowadays is a waste. Especially with all the amazing offers in the $300-$400 range.

Considering how over-priced they were to begin with, they're only slightly over priced now. The discount should be made permanent. This ridiculous pricing scheme from all the big manufacturers is going to bite them in the ass one day.

From the launch video, their is much to like I'm the detail. No question about it. You may as well complain about apple too.
My mate has a Pixel and frankly it is awesome. Not only looks and feels superior, the clarity on Skype from Australia to Canada was better than most conference units. Total confidence in HTC build. Quality.

I want something like Pixel XL, but in a bezelless form factor.

They do not want to compete with the other android phone manufacturers. I can imagine them complaining about/to google about them seeling high-end phones on the cheap.
I believe that is why google has the android one phones for people that want the nexus (pixel?) experience without spending much money.

That system update that you think is not that important, with the other Android software can still make it run better than 2017 phones and take on par photos (because the trick Pixel Camera uses in HDR+). Yeah Snapdragon 830/835 will have more power because of 10nm process and A73 modified cores, but in reality you won't see a difference because Pixel can already run every game without sweat and Android 8.0 will make it better.

In summer 2017 most flagships will have a 10nm Snapdragon 835 processor which will really increase battery life and/or computing speed. Plus there will be some bezel-less flagships already available.
The Google Pixel phones offer no advantages over any current flagship, aside from faster OS updates which, to be honest, are highly overrated.

that's not too bad as at least now they undercut apple, or it's a backhanded discount to ship all the lens flare effected devices before they bring out the 2nd revision.

They have to keep discounting another 200 or so,otherwise their Pixels gonna stay on the shelves,collecting dust.Not many will buy their overpriced Pixels.There are better flagship options for a much lower price.
