Lenovo is apparently in talks to buy Samsung's PC division

24 November 2016
Back in September Samsung sold its printer business to HP, and a shocking revelation from South Korea today claims it might do the same with its PC division. According to a report from a local news source in Samsung's home country, the company has been in secret talks with Lenovo for the past few months, with the aim of selling its PC business to the Chinese company.

Printer business. Lol. The world is racing towards paperless environment so, Samsung knew printer wouldn't do any good. Pc business. Yeah, just let it go Samsung. Their smartphone, phablet and tablet are more powerful than their own pc. Besides, they are selling Tablet running on Windows platform, why even bother with PC. Even Galaxy View is larger than desktop pc.

Sony dropped Vaio. Now Samsung. Makes sense. The margins on laptops are getting smaller and smaller, while the market itself is slowing down. Why bother keeping products that are not giving you good profits. Let the Chinese do the race to the bottom.

Go ask people that actually use them, and the quality of ThinkPads under Lenovo is taking a nosedive. Doesn't mean they are bad, but they don't reflect the solid Thinkpads of the old.
As for Moto, they are selling more simply because Lenovo is selling Moto phones in markets where Moto did not have access before. As for the products themselves, the G4 and Z were already in the pipeline pre-Lenovo. If you want to see the future of Moto under Lenovo, go look at the Moto M. That's the sign of the future where Moto phones will look like just any other Chinese phones.

AnonD-240901, 25 Nov 2016Lenovo messed up with motorola now its samsung turn.Care to elaborate? How did Lenovo mess up Motorola or ThinkPad for that? Motos are selling more than ever, so much so that Lenovo is considering shifting all phone branding to Moto. And people who say that it's not Motorola anymore, if it has the Batwing on the box and the back then it is a Motorola, no two ways about it. If they had gone from StockUI to Vibe I would have agreed, but I've used a G4 extensively and it is miles ahead of the budget competition. The Moto Z is also a stunning piece of hardware. They even have shatterproof screens!

. Samsung and Sony are disasters in laptop. Both are not a competitor for anyone. And Lenovo is no1 in PC for years.. hp and Dell in next two spots.

The low end, mid end and semi-high end sector is mostly Acer, Hp and Lenovo, for business, teachers and students in general. Lightweight and low power ultrabooks is what makes people interested in a laptop to begin with, and the 1500-3000€ macbooks arent gonna help accomplish that at all and Asus is popular, just not as much as before. Also they had quality assurance issues in the past with theyr high end displays, so you cant say that they havent gotten a rep downgrade at some point from that to loyal costumers.

Making ram, displays and storage isnt equal to making laptops and in case your unaware due to your lack of capabilities to forecast anything that is made from Samsung and isnt talked on the news being unpopular, then no, theyr laptops are terrible when compared to the competition and nowhere near as valuable in terms of performance and evolutionary standpoint (lacks new technology and pretty much is just a laptop) and 8GB of ram from Samsung and 8B of ram from Micron is gonna be pretty much the same thing (unless you count slightly better efficiency or frequencies on one over the other). Is that a fanboy statement? If it is, get out.

Laptops suck. Better to buy desktop PC with much powerful specs. But if you want superb laptop Dell Alienware 17 is very powerful example with 32GB ram and super graphics card. It will cost around 3000 - 3500 dollars.
