LG Optimus 2X excels in Quadrant benchmark on Froyo

14 January, 2011
LG Optimus 2X, the first smartphone with the dual-core Tegra 2, was one of the spotlights at CES 2011. Here's the first public record of its performance under the Android Quadrant benchmark. We gotta say it's...

Wow, LG's new display is sick, that was definitely a top notch looking display from the video.

It´s a pretty good result, just imagine what this could score once is released and somebody makes a custom rom, the product shown here is a pre preoduction unit so it should be faster in the final product.

Anonymous, 14 Jan 2011Agreed with posters saying the benchmark result is not that... moreDo quadrant test the fact that it is DUAL-core, speed of each core is not faster then other cpu on the market today but it can maybee do 2 quadrant test at the exakt same time and still get this high score in both tests? Dual-core is fast MULTI-tasking, but single-tasks can not be done much faster.

Agreed with posters saying the benchmark result is not that special.
My stock Desire HD scores 1992 on the Quadrant Benchmark. "Much" faster then the Nexus One 2.2+

But then again, this phone is pre-prod and pretty fast. Give it some slack but I think the final results will be no different from the one showed here.

That score sadly supports only one of the dual cores. Now imagine a quadrant bench that utilizes both cores!

                        1. "Retina" is just a brand name. iphone 4's display is just an IPS with a high resolution.
                        2. LG makes iphone 4's displays.

So what? If at least we had the advanced Quadrant score we could learn a lil bit more, like that it's nonsense. My HD2 (over a year old, WM phone at origin) makes 2700 with a custom ROM and no OC. Still it lags sometimes and I know it makes its result from I/O score.

But in a multicore processor tasks can be allocated to individual cores using the taskID which can be associated with the processorID. Only very big software applications which have threads running in parallel would need to manage themselves the access to the cores.

And something else. Being the first means nothing ever since there will be many offerings around in less than two months.
No credit to Lg either as Nvidia will be providing this Cpu to many manufacturers. It isn't Lg's achievement - unlike Apple's Retina display..

If the blue bar indicates the Cpu performance, it becomes pretty obvious that the Cpu makes the great difference. The memory on the other side makes almost no difference (red bar). And few quenstions:
                                      1. How do we know it is not overclocked?
                                      2. Nexus 2 uses same Cpu as the galaxy S, yet the Cpu performance indicated by the blue bar is way better. How is this possible?

And why Google prefered to use SingleCore Nexus S as it's flagship ?
Is it too early for 2xCores ?
