Out of the blue, Sony decides to remove IP certification to its Compact Xperias and midrangers. And thus, the competition fills in the void. Sony, wake up!!

Back in the day, when Sony introduced the Xperia Z, the first ever waterproof smartphone(I don't even know if anyone evem remembers or knows it lol), people were bitching that "What's the purpose of? Nobody lives under the sea with their phones." And now, everybody's taking their idea of that. Then today, nobody gives credits to Sony for doing it first. For f***sake, when do people realize that everything they have on their smartphones right now are from Sony? Your camera sensor for instance

BHAAG1, 27 Dec 2016LG V20 is Mil-SPec certifiedBut is it IP certified? NO.
I'm saying flagships should be able to withstand more. If LG V20 is both IP and MIL-SPEC certified then it'll be the first.

AnonD-615646, 27 Dec 2016A series samsung phone will be budget phone or premium oneI would say it was replica of previous years flagship, obviously with budgeted manufacturing aim, thats why u get mid-ranged specs. The strategy was obvious current flagship designs will implement on upcoming A-series,just as u read IP rating.

Ahong Surahong, 27 Dec 2016If midrangers in 2017 going to be IP fest, then the next ge... moreExactly what I'm trying to say here. Next year will be the mark of IP infested smartphone. Very rare to see non flagship to have this feature. It is a good thing to copy. Just like it was very rare to see fingerprint sensor on midrange or low budget phone but now it is a must-have feature. Selling a smartphone without fingerprint sensor is a bad move from today perspective. IP rating should be a must-have feature on all smartphone segment from low budget to flagship.

If midrangers in 2017 going to be IP fest, then the next gen flagships should be able to withstand more elements. Idk, like add some MIL-SPEC shockproof and improved durability, and maybe try fireproof materials.
