AnonD-392127, 03 Jan 2017Windows only got failed because of no popularity thats why ... moreIt also failed because it was a terrible OS with closed-source (no-way for manufacturers to customize it appreciatedly and thus differentiate their product) software, lack of basic functions, lack of real backgrounding, clanky interface.

It failed because it was a failure of a product backed by the one and only Steve Balmer, the Super Goof of enterprising sense. No wonder the actually smart CEO (Nadella) low-key decommissioned the project.

I can think of very few spectacular was Microsoft's Mobile OS. An endless sink of cash leading to an endlessly bad and patchy product...

Apart from that its superior to Both IOS and Android. Its UI is far ahead of both platform. And i can prove it to you if you want.

Anonymous, 03 Jan 2017Worse UI? You've got to be kidding, right? Windows's UI ... moreOh come on! Windows UI USED TO BE superior (in windows 7), after that they broke it. Even search barely lets you find anything efficiently...
Android is much more usable nowdays, and improving.
And don't start on security threats with all that microsoft account and clouds.

Anonymous, 03 Jan 2017Windows is far worse for phone use. Worse UI, worse app sup... moreWorse UI? You've got to be kidding, right?

Windows's UI is far superior to the one on Android or iOS. Live tiles are actually useful, as they display usable info without the need to open apps. Static icons are oldschool and mostly useless. Also, the widgets in Android are buggy, slow, eat up battery and CPU, and it's pretty much a hassle to use them.
Performance wise, Windows phones always perform better than Android phones. There are video comparisons on Youtube where Lumias 950/XL are all tested side-by-side with S6, S7, OnePlus 'x', etc. and Windows is always, always faster and more reliable, no matter which apps are being used.

But on another note, I also use my phone to store personal info and content, so I definitely would not allow any Google service to run on my device due to all the security threats it poses. Windows is above that, with running sanboxed apps, and using flawless encryption.

Also, email/calendar, settings, etc. sync faster and never generate any errors on Windows.

Android devices are ok for teenagers and users who do light work on their phones. These are 'fun devices'.
Windows is currently the one option for those who use their phone on the go, and require privacy and security. These are more serious devices, where you can't expect to find tons of farrrt generators in the Store.

SJM32, 03 Jan 2017Haven't HP just done this with the Elite 3? I am sure that ... moreBecause Microsoft's Windows and their phones are a source of inspiration for every other company out there.

Worse UI, worse app support, not that great of performance (yet is runs faster on low hardware, but it has low ceiling, Windows Phones can never be as fast as OnePlus 3T dues to Linux's/Android's caching system, etc).

Dual boot is better. Especially now that phones boot in a split second. Dock it -> Windows with call support. Undock it -> Android with access on windows files.

Haven't HP just done this with the Elite 3? I am sure that even with a Windows OS it wasn't popular so why do Samsung think they will make it popular?

I know we want innovative ideas from companies but surely they should be researching first before they put into practice.
