Xiaomi Mi 6 runs AnTuTu, allegedly scores record-breaking 210,329 points

06 January 2017
If true, this means the iPhone 7 Plus with its score of 183,106 has finally been dethroned.

The time is right for thin-and-light laptops to move to ARM architectures.

And looks like the majors - MS, Google and Apple - are all looking to do the same

Overall benchmarks aren't the way to go. Best way if you care about benchmark and processing power is, see geek bench single and multicore results, then framerates (on screen and off screen) and that is enough. Don't forget to check vedio, WiFi, calling time on battery. And you can find all this on GSMARENA.

Sam_26, 07 Jan 2017Just wait for OnePlus 4 or 5 , it will again break the benc... moreThat and not using hardware from braindead qualcomm engineers. Geekbench shows great performance to those that use vanilla ARM, it's qualcomm the ones being severly punished by it, for a good reason too. Qualcomm can't built cpus if their life was depended on it, they do make good gpus though. Since the GPU is not that useful on android we're stuck with subpar kryo cores.

That's exactly what geekbench shows. Qualcomm is a disease that we should get rid off. From now on buy from the few manufacturers that do not use qualcomm (say samsung exynos or Huawei Kirin) that way Qualcomm will close down and real competition will once again rise.

For example vanilla A73 cores are faster per watt than kryo cores. Yet we are forced to use worse tech because it gets "great antutu"

The Pixel XL uses an underclocked SD821 which has about SD820 performance and less power consumption. So in fact, it is on par and as test results vary, maybe sometimes XZ is faster, and sometimes Pixel XL is faster. And sadly, there's no big benchmark comparing storage speed so this has no impact in Antutu or geekbench

I have to say, this is impressive. But it seems like this performance will be used for gaming and VR, because the 3D score is massive. It doubles the one of my iPhone 7. But if you leave behind 3D, you get 100k for this and 130k for iPhone 7. So it seems like in normal usage, iPhone 7 with it's better CPU will still be faster. And it also needs this much of GPU performance if it has a QHD or 4K screen, so I think it will be on par with iPhone 7 in gaming and VR while having a much higher resolution.

And please no hate or fanboyism, I can't hear it anymore

And setting a new speed record means exactly what in real life?

It isn't going to make your work any faster. It isn't going to improve your call quality or cell reception. It doesnt do anything but put a mark on some statt sheet.

I would rather have a phone with a few core apps that work together seamlessly, has good call quality and reception, and good battery life. If I am on a job site, I hate constantly worrying about finding a charge port to feed some power hungry phone with specs that are useless for real day to day work.

Speed records mean nothing except to a very few people.

LoL, the r3t@rd3d dev of GB just changed the weight of each test which favored Apple SoC. SD820 already matched the IPC of A9 in GB3. When you change scoring algorithm it should affect all SoC whether it goes up or down. And oh according to GB4, A10 is faster than 3Ghz Haswell. That's how reliable your Geekbench is. =D

It has very low ram , it's by far the slowest flagship of 2016. You *never* go low-ram on an android phone, you get stuck with reloading assets and a bad every day experience.

BTW using a high OOM limit (what Sony does) is the opposite of optimization. It creates the illusion of fluidity at the expense of Ram retension. In fact it's one more reason why it is such a slow phone and why most Sony users are stuck reloading a lot of their apps, while Pixel and especially OnePlus have them ready in the background.

Next time choose a better phone. Always look at ram first, storage second and SoC only last (unless you are gaming). Here's hoping this lesson will help you. Also cutting some more customers from a company like Sony that tries to trick customers with cheap tricks like high OOM limits is always a plus.

Geekbench 4 was fixed to show that difference, no wonder it destroyes the dinky android cpus. If anything it show the strength of the benchmark by fixing its inaccuracies.

Then there is Antutu. Which puts an unfair weight on GPU, pretty much showing snapdragons to be far better SoCs than how they actually are. In truth they were by far the weakest SoC of 2017, yet Antutu saved them due to the avantage it gave to the Adreno GPU. What a joke of a benchmark...
