As for Tizen, yes its an amazing OS. Its light and truly open. Why OEMs don't invest in it? I think t's quite easy... One of the reasons is: You walk into a store and say I want a new phone and on the other side you either have a Apple or Google fan boy/girl... No matter how great an OS is, it will have to pass this first obstacle.

BTW Tizen on smartwatches is pretty incredible. Any person/reviewer who has used it (GSMA included) have praised it's smoothness and fluidity, apparently because Tizen was built from the ground up. But it still doesn't explain why Samsung hasn't aggressively promoted it's use in smartphones, considering it is a critical success in the smartwatch scene. Maybe the time just isn't right?

I have used Jolla Sailfish, Amazon Fire, WP7 - WP10, Many Android version, Meego and Tizen
truly Tizen has the potential to become a 3rd alternate to iOS, Android
Jolla and amazon should simply switch to Tizen
maybe Xiaomi, one Plus, blackberry, Nokia also should have a variant of Tizen
and most importantly Tizen has advantage if it can run android apps + w10 apps

Don't know .NET but don't think Java and .NET are comparable. What is comparable is Java and C#. And .NET and Java EE.

Got curious, googled and Xamarin is Microsoft tech to go with Microsofts C#. Too close to Microsoft for my taste. I'd prefer something neutral like Java as in Android. Or C++ with Qt. Oh - and the googling revealed that Xamarin is buggy. Very buggy. Drowning in bugs.

Tizen has always been originally made for Samsung home appliances long before Tizen phone even existed. There is no need for many apps in home appliances. Its not like you going to play angry bird with your fridge or use map with your samsung tv.
