Sorry GSMArena, but this test seems very flawed.
You used an old battery!
You can't just update an almost a year old, used device, and expect the battery to perform like it was during the first test!

I have not updated my S-7 edge to Nouget, waiting for other users review about the update, if is there any bug, performance issues or battery drain problem? This post makes me confuse either i should update or not. Please support.

              @gsmarena:
Could the lower numbers achieved by the Nougat version be explained by the age of the device (= age of the battery) being almost a year older than the device originally tested (Marshmallow)?

Guys remember that the 6.0.1 test was done when the phone was almost new. It's been over 10 months now and by default the battery will not perform as before.

I dont know about you guys, but when I search "Galaxy S7 edge marsmallow vs Nougat" on youtube, most of them said that the battery life is extended. If you don't believe me, just search right now

so now your smart phone is become dumb phone.. use it like a old Nokia device that is good for calling only.. don't do wab brows don't see videos. joke a part.. i have seen most of the time flagship phone update are worse they force you to buy new phone of the same company that can handle there new update properly and that to with a little upgrade in processor. this is how they make money..

Metal Greymon, 05 Feb 2017How to Custom ROM a Android Device???? Would help if someon... morePretty easy. (Make sure you are at 80%+ battery)
Download to the PC the desired ROM.
                        2. Enable USB Debugging
                        3. In the phone: turn off and enter Download Mode (each device has it's own method. So check how to do it with your device), using the file manager of your Phone's Brand (Kies, LG Suite, ETC) push the ROM onto the phone. (One important note though. Connect it by cable. And KEEP IT CONNECTED UNTILL PROCESS IS DONE! I am serious. You WILL brick your device if it will be randomly disconnected. Don't say I didn't warn you!)
                        4. Let the process end (takes a few mins. Go drink a coffee or watch some TV)
                        5. TADAA! Rom has been swapped! (Note though. The rom has to match 100% to your device. E.g. If you got the Galaxy S6 edge plus, the Galaxy S6 Edge's rom WILL BRICK IT! You have to make sure it's for the SAME DEVICE!)

One thing clearly is conirmed....amoled draws such little power from the processor and battery that the argument about having a 720p display or 4k display is factually irrelevant so when people cry over phones having pointless high resolution displays even though we now have 4k and vr to work with, your argument is disproved.....on a side note....not happy to hear battery usage has decreased...hopefully this is not the case

Were the Marshmallow tests re-done before upgrading to Nougart and then testing? If they are the same tests from last year when you first got the phone, is it possible the battery life has degraded somewhat from use?

I had a similar experience back when i used motorola, firmware upgrades degraded battery life and performance. Only on nexus (and on the future, Pixel) you get new features without any catch. My guess is that OEMs have more incentive enhancing the incoming phones (samsung's S8) than improving last year's phones, so more resources are spent on that.

Also, Samsung locks down all phones tightly, even those sold unlocked tend to be hard to root, thus installing custom roms on them carries a higher than average risk of bricking.

I hope you still remember on some other thread I shared my experience with note 7 and lower resolution option which had almost no effect on the battery life and GSMA have the same experience now with S7 edge.

I guess in general use the gpu doesn't even draw much power so even if we choose lower resolution, no effect.
