LG H871 with Snapdragon 820 benchmarked, is it the G6?

06 February 2017
It could be one of the other G6 phones LG recently trademarked - the LG G6 Lite or G6 Compact.

Sometimes is seems that lady luck never stands beside LG. First, the over-heating SD810 throws a spanner in the works for the G4 & it's SD808. Then a poor implementation of modularity impedes the G5. Will the lack of SD 835 haunt the G6?

BTW is the last line in this article incomplete?!

Who is going to buy something because it has only 2 more GB of RAM and waterproofing? I guess smart consumers will get the V30, since the G6 doesn't bring anything new (yet). At least the V20 is going to get a price cut because of the G6 (simple economics) so the V20 might become quite popular.

LOL, that's not the argument, and if the price is such an issue to you, simply don't buy the device, why waste your time complaining about a phone having a very capable chip from last year??? true it's not fair that it should be priced high, but wake up, this is the world we live in, I want to see this same complaint when the S8 arrives with the SD835 and is priced up the wazzoo, and I don't want to hear "it's got the lastest specs, so the price is justified", don't even give me that, because again, a device can have the lastest this or that, BUT if the optimization is not there, what was the point of paying that much money for a phone that is having major performance issues? we don't even know if the 835 will be good or not, take a look back at the Snapdragon 810, and once in users hands, reports of overheating lag, but that chipset in it's time had very compelling specifications.

And about "The raw hardware has to be there", the software has to be there to work in tandem with the hardware, raw hardware is pointless concerning electronics if the software isn't tweaked for that SOC.

Such an inferior ch... moreThe problem comes when the devices have so-called flagship prices, but not the innards to back it up. If priced as upper mid-ranger, people would not complain. Don't get started on optimization - you cannot optimize beyond a point. The raw hardware has to be there, for optimization to be a differentiator.

If you still don't agree, I would challenge you to make SD 200 device with 256MB RAM and Android 7.1 to work similar to S7. Can you do it?

I don't mind SD821 if device will have a great design with all metal back and good battery life. And of course it has to be noticeable cheaper that flagships on SD821. I need a compact version with 4.6 - 4.7 screen. I would pay for such device around 400 USD.

the real comparison is with the Galaxy Note 5 with 3000 mAh batt and the LG V20 with 3200 mAh.

GSMArena scored the GN5= 85 hours and the LG V20= 68 hours of battery life

S820 for G6? Fantastic!!! Why? It will be considerably cheaper then S8!!! More phone makers should go for S820/821. We do not need more power. We need better efficiency, but difference in efficiency between 14nm chips or 10nm is not that big. The price to produce 10nm is however, enormous.

And by the way: mercedes is using renault's engine!!!!! Renault Diesel engine 1.5dci is in class A, in class B and also in infiniti's sister models. It is a great engine.

In fact, AMOLED screens are worse than IPS LCD. Yes, according to rumors, Samsung wants to use RBG supbixel arrangement in S8 which burns in faster than PenTile. PenTile is intended to extend the lifespan of AMOLED screen and delay the appearance of burn in, but it still burns in. Moreover, PenTile makes the screen more pixelated (it doesn't have as many pixels as RGB screens, that's why S8 may have RGB screen because of VR headsets) so it needs higher screen resolution to hide the pixelation. Today's phones have QHD screen resolution anyway. The higher the screen resolution, the smaller the subpixels. The smaller the subpixels, the faster the burn in appear.

My good friend people complain about this phone having SD820/821 for only 2 reasons, efficiency and performance.

Now yo claim of 5 minutes om screen time is way off. I won't even thumb suck numbers here as the phones with both chips are not out yet. I dont know where yo 5 minutes came and by God's holly grace I dont wanna know!!!

I like yo example of a Mercedes having a Renault engine. Why on earth would Mercedes put a Renault engine in their cars? Again yo example in this case is way off. People are not complaining about Mercedes having a Renault engine. No no no Sir they're not. They're complaining about a new generation Mercedes having a last generation engine. Why? Simple. With every new tech product we look forward to innovation, efficiency and perfomance.

I hope you get it now?

xoOox, 06 Feb 2017lol...you giving me lessons of power efficiency?! not reall... moreColour accuracy is based on calibration. For example both iphone. 7 and a bunch of amoled screens from certain companies provide insane colour accuracy. OLED is actually more colour accurate if you use full RGB rather than pentile. Rumor is s8 may be full RGB.

Again sharpness and other factors are based on resolution/type of oled etc. Pentile displays require extra high resolutions to get sharpness. But full RGB again would make it even better. You can't drop OLED into a single category as there are many different versions. LCD is similar. There is no LED/LCD tv that can defeat LG's w-OLED TV's. They are the best picture quality on the market, no one can defeat them. Qdot is basically just a similar old tech LG used called LED full slim. I happen to have one of those TV's. Just different marketing term for the led zones. OLED is superior it's just costly and has more challenges to overcome.

xoOox, 06 Feb 2017lol...you giving me lessons of power efficiency?! not reall... moreLOL. I AM giving you lesson on efficiency. I DIDN't say anything about colour accuracy, sharpness and whatnot. That's personal preferences. I love OLED. The LCD display is washed out, dull and not as attractive compared to OLED. But hey, that is my personal opinion. Some might agree, some might not.

I was attacking your claim you said that the efficiency of the two processor will not be noticible in real life, which I think is wrong. I am giving you a reason why people complain about the LG G6 having SD 821 instead of SD 835.

But sure. Let us wait for the phone to come out and you will see the differences between the SD 835 and SD 821.
