10 February 2017
The feature allows you to create a six-digit pass-code that'll be required whenever your phone number is being verified on the app.

Please explain how it is possible, in the absence of 2-step verification, for an attacker to verify my cell number on another handset.

That feature is already been available on Windows for some time...

If you happen to forget your pass-code, all you do is disable the two-step verification.

There is a new feature on Instagram. When you're chatting on DM,you can see the other person start typing.
I saw this yesterday after updating. Not sure if it's just for the beta users or has been released to the public.
