The paint just diddnt stick to the aluminum well to begin with.. could be aluminum was slightly coroded, oily, or paint was cheapest stuff out there haha phones with personalities these days.. but explosions are better haha

This is news? People already mentioned about paint chipping on the black iphone 7 since last year. They all talk about it in review and after a few month usage review. Thats why I never like anything painted.

From antennagate issues of iphone 4 , bendgate issues of iPhone 6 and many what is deemed a product fault , Apple never seems to admit it instead dismiss it as always a user issues, for $1000 "premium' phone comes with a response from its manufacturer. It's disgusting this is how a reputable company behaves , as if once you paid for the products,that's your own issues .

dont complain its actually a feature that the phone looses weight to compete with future releases , also the chipping of paint is unique for each user so that your phone is uniquely yours

Apple don't know what is Chromium Plating, but Sony already use on Xperia Z2 and the paint job is very durable and premium (this painting tech is more expensive) than any paint job/ coating.

Anonymous, 11 Feb 2017In 2015 the corners of the leather back on my LG G4 startin... moreFor a $1000 phone that is advertised to be metal, this shouldn't even happen at all, because only fake metal like my Zenfone Max would tear off, and even mine didn't tear dowm at all, at least not much. My 2-year old family car that is made of metal already has dents on its body, but it's caused of sharp objects sliding through the paint and not because of tearing off. This is no wonder why I haven't seen any iPhone 7 and 7 Plus devices here in my country, and everyone who is going to buy a new phone will seek for an S7 or S7 Edge, or something different, but definitely not iPhone 7 or 7 Plus

No car will ever have this issue within a year without any external impacts. A brand which advertises and prices its iPhone as the most expensive and best quality product is expected to reflect those words in their products. When an issue arises like this then that company should also have the capability to accept its mistake and replace the effected devices. Which isn't the case with Apple here.
