I think the regular g5 would slot in around the G4 play range and g5 plus around the regular g4 in terms of the price. The g5 is lower specced probably to negate the need of a g4 play, so that they have a lower end device as well. If that's the case, then I think it'll be damn good, g5 plus at the cost of last years regular g4 would be great. Let's see though

People like to comment without thinking.
I will just say that the specs looks nice if priced right. Since Lenovo is in charge, hopefully they will price them at no more than 220€/$ (150-200 would be a good range).

Its abit of a downgrade from the G4. I wouldn't upgrade to it if I had a G4. Makes no sense.

Lol, those bezels got to be ridiculous, a 5 inch device with 144 mm x 73 mm when s7 is only 142 mm x 69.5 mm and S4 is even smaller. A 74 mm device should be a 5.5 inches.

Ugh, the regular G5 is utter trash! It has a 400 series processor?! Why would I want a downgrade from the last gen G4? Not to mention only 2 gigs of RAM on the both of them, midranges have had this amount of RAM for 2 year now! Too bad, Moto was on a steak of very good phones...

Anonymous, 15 Feb 2017For me its a downgrade from g4 plus.. ohh come on Lenovo...Why 2 GB RAM for the G5 Plus? The G4 Play already had 2 GB for 129 Euro and my Honor 6 from 2014 also has 3 GB, 3000 mAh battery and was 260 Euro . Moto fails to give me a reason to upgrade.

Like the idea of a smaller screen phone. Both are big for the screen sizes though. The G5 has the flush rear which is better than the hump on the plus but the g5 is thick...nearly a cm!
Specs are good on both but not a quantum leap forward. No wonder the prices are lower than the g4. The g5 is the same with smaller screen but with the addition of a finger print reader.
Have to think that the Nokia 5/6 will have similar specs, price might be a little higher...so choice between the two.

Why does Moto insist on using that huge camera bezel? It's prone to shattering and will easily scratch!

Regular G5 looks good to me. Close dimensions and weight of the regular Pixel. No camera hump. Think would have been better with a rounded edge gorilla glass 4 display, and a flatter back panel. We'll see when reviews start rolling out. Could be a good option for people who like a smaller budget phone.
