Revamped, auto-expiring WhatsApp Status rolls out to all making it more like Snapchat

20 February 2017
The Facebook-owned app started testing this Snapchat-aping functionality last November, and now it's ready to be used by everyone who has WhatsApp installed.

futurenebula, 21 Feb 2017because you have facebookso? I thin 99% of users will love to see the statuses to stay as long as we want, its very frustrating trying too look for somebody in specific and that crap just plays itself without letting us properly see a status

Everybody's a cynic or a troll nowadays in the worst ways. How does adding more features become a BAD thing especially if they are features that you can ignore? Instagram came up with a cool innovative idea and it has become like an industry staple...so? If no one ever copied the first messenger then there would be only one, you wouldn't have a choice. That goes for almost EVERYTHING, EVER. If you want a bare bones messenger then fine go get one but don't knock whatsapp for adding current popular features. It's just evolving like everything does.

Thanks for ruining whatsapp. Well done facebook. I'm gonna move to a new simple app soon.

Facebook is spoiling the concept of whatsapp.

AnonD-456829, 21 Feb 2017So the Cartoonification continues! Thank God i never update... moreUnfortunately, you can't keep it "un-updated" forever. As long as you use a connection (which you'll need to message on Whatsapp), it keeps track of the update log. And one fine day (after many warnings), Whatsapp will simply not let you use it and will force you to update it.

This is sad. Facebook seems to be holding a grudge against Snapchat because of it's failed takeover bid. Copy all you want into Instagram (as it also a photo-sharing app) but leave WhatsApp alone and please stop bloating it with unnecessary features!

Instagram Stories and now WhatsApp Status? Dope!

The reason me and I believe so many others use Whatsapp, are because it is so simple and effective, and fast. It is a kind of replacement for SMS and MMS. So now we are going to have another kind of SnapChat! I believe if they make it so complicated with billion of features (and cartoonized and heavily animated) they will for sure open the door for other competitors who could provide SIMPLICITY. I will be one of those to ditch the Whatsapp. I already have Snapchat, and I do not want another one. I use Whatsapp it for work to communicate with my colleague, and my friends and family because it is so SIMPLE!!!

Whatsapp used to be a simplistic app targeting a large amount of people who are still using it as a replacement of SMS.Now these features strip the app of its simplicity making it incompatible with legacy hardware as well.I guess communication doesn't matter anymore does it? If we have SnapChat for a particular feature then why couldn't they leave it like that? Many people don't want that added extra bloatware! We don't want the Whatsapp app to become like that of Facebook that uses a huge amount of space! Just keep it SIMPLE!

After facebook acquired Whatsapp and Instagram. Facebook messenger coping Snapchat, Instagram copying Snapchat features and now Whatsapp. Mark knows how to borrow ideas, some habits don't go easily :)

Sometimes all we want is simplicity. It's already in FB messenger, why go ruin a normal messenger! What we need are more text related features!
