Of course it matters if the phone will have SD835 or SD821. The 821 is a quad core, while the 835 is an octa core. This means double the performance.
Maybe for you and the regular people it's not a big deal, but for tech geeks it is. I for one would not pay more than 400-500 euros for last year's chipset.
"The 14nm Snapdragon 820/821 was no slouch, but the move to the 10nm node has allowed Qualcomm to register huge gains in energy efficiency and performance. The Snapdragon 835 is 27% faster while consuming 40% less energy, with the overall size being 30% smaller than the previous generation."

DNS, 22 Feb 2017Are you living under a rock? Of course I know, it's leaked ... moreNo i live besides a rock! Hehe so I guess you should be given an award of best designer of the year lol!! If a known designer company has approved G6 as a better phone in design, so who are you to know how bad the design is?? I have seen the renders of G6 and if according to you is a bad design then you are blind. Go make your own G6!

I don't have to do anything with weather this man is paid or not, but myself, I had the same thoughts about G6 design before and after reading the article, and it's Design is ROBUST, practical, ergonomic and simple. Minimalist and detailed. I have deep interest in design and I have many design and detail boards on Pinterest.
But it is not all flowers and roses. It gonna be a fail with SD821. They MUST make a SD835 version later. LG G6T? lol

You've just stated the facts, just as you have put it many people don't actually use the devices as I once referred to them as keyboard users! Lol!! They just whine... whine...and whine over nothing.

Funny they are marketing it as full vision when it has big lateral bezels and the top and bottom are not that thin.

Blah blah it's fund to watch some of Android
fanboys are talking like spec isn't everything
Lol isn't the reason why iPhone is the overpriced pos to many Android ppl?
Lower Resolution only dual core... Blah blah

I don't care guys cause we all know this phone will fail NOT just for it's cpu or pricing
Cause no one cares about LG handsets at their retail price
They will sell horribly like their other phones until they discount them big time

Akinaro, 22 Feb 2017yep, because CPU is soooooo important that no matter what, ... moreBut, but muh benchmark scores. They are the most important part of any decision to buy device. Do you even realize what kind of difference in everyday use does 165k on Antutu (compared to 160k) makes? Lame jokes aside, I won't be buying G6 because of camera BS they pulled, but it's hilarious just how triggered fanboys get over SoC used (and numbers posted by benchmarks).

[deleted post]Get out. No one cares about your opinion. You judge a device just based on a unconfirmed cpu and an unannounced price? How ignorant.

[deleted post]I give a sh*t about the newest soc/cpu since all those flagship and midrange devices from the last 2 years performed more than just great. The performance of a SD801 soc is more than enough for what average joe does with his phone (surfing, youtube, messaging...). I have a Nexus 4 and Huawei Mate S and I don't see a huge difference between those 2 devices in everyday use. Of course the the mate is here and there a little bit faster and snappier but considering that the N4 is 4-5 years old that difference in speed isn't that big. So what do you expect the difference in real world experience to be between SD821 and SD835?
I would be totally fine with a SD821 or even older soc IF the rest of the device suites my needs like snappy UI, great camera and superb battery life (3700-4100mAh), expandable storage. Most of the consumers don't even know what soc their phones are running on, it's just the tech geeks like us who really care about stuff like that.

[deleted post]yep, because CPU is soooooo important that no matter what, no mater how phone work and is made, if it have year older CPU its peace of cr##p.

Its like listening to kids that argue about cars, without knowing how to drive.
CPU is just small part of phone, and for past few years, difference between chip generations or even their price tag(look at snapdragon 6 series) show that in everyday usage there is actually NO difference in performance. And even in more demanding task, like VR games, this year old CPU can run in any performance race for next 2 or even 3 years.

I seriously sometimes think that half of people on GMSA are people that actually never used more than one device, and never compare flagships devices in real life.
You see only some numbers on site and benchmarks and you rate phone base only on it.

I can ensure you that if you would buy or get any device with that chip, you would be happy with it for next few years, and none of new games would give you problem.

And price? You judge WHOLE device based on only chip? You getting good made device with lots of nice features... but its overpriced because it have few month older one component that still is ONE OF BEST on market... Just get a life, seriously

[deleted post]Who told you that it will be priced close to 2017 flagships expect the 2017 flagships to come at a price of more than 800$ S8 and iPhone 8 and this phone won't be priced anywhere near that even a pixel XL is 750$ with the same cpu so why do you think people who like it will not buy it just for the cpu

Excited for the reveal of the G6! Fair warning, don't let LGs marketing justify the cost of the device. The company is teasing features to inflate price, IMO. Any price north of $500 will negatively impact sales.
