Samsung unveils Exynos 9 - a 10nm chip to challenge the Snapdragon 835

23 February 2017
A Gigabit LTE modem, beefy GPU and a strong focus on VR define this chip. It's not purely a phone chipset either, it will be used in cars as well.

A copy of what Snapdragon has done with some tweaks in build to be a bit faster. Boring...The same story every year... Only Apple is REALLY doing something

AnonD-308243, 23 Feb 2017on the article i read "4k 120 fps". so ur good with exynos ... moreDon't get your hopes up. Even though the Exynos 8895 CAN support 4k video capture @ 120 fps , the SD 835 CAN'T. The Snapdragon 835 can only support 4k video capture @ 30 fps

So I doubt Samsung would make the Exynos Galaxy S8 support 4k@120 fps while the Snapdragon Galaxy S8 can only support 4k@30 fps.

Blame Qualcomm for that. Lol jk.

They will surely put a bigger battery in note because only difference between note and s+ will be battery and stylus, then of course display. Stylus setup will eat up some precious space, so Samsung will be forced anyway to increase space. Secondly, stylus will require thicker chassis.

kirin and pinecone will alg ebhind in GPU dept.
although most users wont notice it unless doing high graphic intensive tasks

              Maximum clock rates?
And looks like Samsung not did big effort. They simply tweaked mangoos for 10nm (if needed, I don't know) and they made last years processor on smaller node.

Looks pretty powerful. Other than the things GSMArena listed, there are other things that makes the Exynos 8895 even more impressive.

                1. support 4K screen resolution
                2. support for up to 28-megapixel front and rear-facing cameras.
                3. support for a 28MP+16MP dual-camera setup.
                4. features HSA, which means all its CPU cores can be active at the same time and share the workload depending on the situation
                5. support for eMMC 5.1, UFS 2.1, and SD 3.0 storage solutions.

After stating all this, I can confidently say that I don't mind the Galaxy Note 8 having the same chipset.

There are actual cameras that can record video like that. Just like my professional photographer friends use professional cameras. Smartphone cameras are for capturing things on the go. I have a great camera but use it once in a million, I don't want to pay extra for something that isn't that important to me. And I hope they don't drive prices of flagships up because of some silly niche sector.

I really hope someone can deliver at least 4K 60fps video recording. We are starting to see 4K 60Hz monitors and i know its not for everyone, but professional variant monitors could benefit from these applications especially in the sensitive color industry. Our smartphones are truly wonderful, especially android flagship phones that dont have software issues.
