Root achieved on the Samsung Gear S3, Android Wear theoretically possible

A Gear S3 running Android Wear can actually come to fruition. The question is, would you want to use Android Wear on it?

Joselius, 08 Apr 2017Rooting a gear S3 is stupid. No Samsung Pay. Rotating bezel... moreBut then you do get actual app support, and Google services, a much better AI bot, and standalone apps, which, if you've ever used a Samsung watch, you'd know how there is literally none of. Not to mention how it looks much cleaner.

Rooting a gear S3 is stupid. No Samsung Pay. Rotating bezel no longer useful. Less battery life. Loses all Samsung features. In turn you get an ugly android wear ui. Never!!!!

I've used both Moto 360 (1st gen) and Gear S2
The rotatable bezel on the latter, is really amazing.

I like what google is offering with Android wear 2 (haven't tested it yet), but considering smartwatches are mostly used for Fitness and notifications, I think I'd prefer to use S health's deep integrations and tizen's fast and amazing experience (rotating bezel).

Once I used the watch for about an hour (checking out features and stuff), when I switched back to my phone, I was looking for the bezel to turn ! It felt so natural, and easy to use

Ikhsan, 08 Apr 2017Android wear watches barely get a day of battery life, whil... more14nm FinFET process and several battery saving mode is the biggest reason why Gear S3 has great battery life.

Android Wear is far from perfect but i will not get any device with Tizen OS

Does Android wear have more apps ? And are they optimized for gear s3 ? If not, then it's not worth anything. And does the watch last 5 days on battery with Android wear ?

Android wear for the win! It's not perfect, but as all the software from Google it gets better over time.

Would love to be able to get wear 2.0 on S3 as it is currently the best watch hardware wise, but if battery life is downgraded, then I'll stick to tizen

No I love it as it is, it's smoother than Android wear and have greater implementation.
