Nice idea, I will probably pick one of these up for me and my girlfriend.. we don't need a pc, and for what we like to do, we can't justify forking out $400 for a cheap computer that is slow and buggy... THis makes way more since and will be a nice addition to our three chromebooks!

If Microsoft allows its installation to non Microsoft devices (as she did in desktops) then you can always dual boot and have both full Excel and toy excel on your phone. Plus she will make much more money than by allowing it to Microsoft products alone.

Running an Excel on Android is NOT flawless. VBA macros doesn't run because other than the full Windows Office no other application supports Macros in Excel! Sad but true. SO, this phone with DeX can NOT replace your mighty PC. Other points:
-Just ask whether that Dex can support external hard drives or not. IT WON'T. That's why my Dock station for Note2 stays idle (it has 3 USB ports by the way but you can't connect even a single external harddisk due to power shortage. Note2 has 3100 mAh by the way). SO, as you see, it CAN NOT replace even a stupidly weak notebook.
Paying this much money on this phone which will become a paper weight after 3-4 years is dead investment if you don't have lots of money to throw. It is on par with iPhone 7 Plus 256GB price. It is just crazy (but it has only 64GB fast memory).

It will gather dust for sure!! I have Microsoft dock for continuum but I have not used it except one or two times initially. It is used only for charging. I had similar docks but none of them was used..

For 99.9% of people this would be useless even if they get it free.
Microsoft already tried this and no-one cared and with Samsung i doubt anyone still cares.
For this kind of tech to be useful and used by many, it would need to work over wifi without any extra equipment and it has to work with your current computer setup without doing anything extra. Because all the extra steps turn away people trying or using it
