Someone upgraded the RAM on their Nexus 5X to 4GB

15 April 2017
Another successful hardware mod over at XDA-Developers. A Nexus 5X owner upgraded the measly 2GB of RAM on the last LG-made Nexus device.

The reason is simple too, C9pro does not reload when you open an app, S8 frequently does and in everything else the difference in speed is minimal (loading is pretty much most of it). Only in games S8 is clearly faster (I've owned both this past week, C9pro was indeed the fastest experience, what a surprise)

And, dear gsmarena moderators, please give me a list of what doesn't offend you. I think that list is still shorter than the list of words that can offend you. Have a good day.

May be, this is right for soldered parts (like in most mobile phones or tablets), but for notebooks RAM module or higher capacity HDD/SSD is 2-3 times cheaper than buying a configuration with same amount of RAM, HDD or SSD.

However, modding/upgrading mobile phone is more challenging and requires experience, so it might be more expensive, though I feel that paying $200 for extra 32GB of internal memory in phones is a little bit too much, taking into account than high-end 256GB memory card price is below $100.

Building a phone through parts is like twice or thrice as expensive that's why most of the world doesn't do it. In phillipines parts may be cheap because Philippines is close to the factories where those parts are made.

That's why most of the world prefer to buy a whole phone than parts. Else many of us would be buying parts too (for example I always buy parts for my computers, never for phones)

A lot of people in Philippines are doing this and that ! Changing internal parts in order for their phone to work. That's how Filipinos do the tinkering since they are more on saving money. Rather than throwing the defective phones and buy a new one. They prefer fixing it first. And if it's not fixable then that's the time they sell the parts and buy a new one. I know some people back there.

I bet you, I *bet you* that C9 pro is faster than S8. Despite the slower ram (ddr3 vs ddr4x), the slower soc, the slower storage. Ram amount is like 70% of perceived performance, it's the best thing ever if you want perfromance! (Unless you're gaming a lot).

You can't convince me otherwise as I played with (& about) it for more than 8 months.

More of this stuff and make the parts available then there will be an option for upgrading ram and storage space.

You can use real native libs most of the time & trough is they are used for more demanding tasks in good written apps but most of the apps (including most popular ones) are actually those bad & ill written to be visually appealing with non to little real good back end. All good truly native ones are still less then one hand fingers. I will just point out one as a middle finger & that one probably won't ever become much popular either. This way it's faster then iOS ones in execution.
